Attention, President Biden: When You've Lost Piers Morgan...

It should come as a shock to no one that President Joe Biden is in trouble. Almost from Day One, his administration has been the recipient of numerous visits from a guy I knew in the Army as Charlie Foxtrot. Just to add to his woes, on Tuesday notorious right-wing extremist British liberal commentator Piers Morgan penned a piece for The New York Post detailing the President's many and varied problems, and he hit a few bullseyes.

“Mr. President,” shouted a reporter as Joe Biden stumbled slowly toward his presidential SUV on a rainy night in Delaware on Sunday. “Why are you losing to Trump in the polls?”

The leader of the free world stopped in his tracks, looked momentarily bemused, then turned toward his questioner and replied: “You’re reading the wrong polls!”

One second later, there was a loud bang as a random vehicle accidentally smashed into his presidential motorcade.

Biden looked bemused again before Secret Service agents bundled him inside the armored SUV.

It was a perfect metaphor: a presidency that’s become a slow-moving car crash.

My colleague Nick Arama brought us this story on Monday, along with the appropriate car-crash video:

Morgan doesn't shy away from discussing the President's cratering polling numbers, even the ones that show him losing to former President Trump in 2024:

A new Morning Consult/Bloomberg News poll revealed that Trump leads his successor in seven swing states by an average of 5 percentage points (47%-42%) among registered voters.

Trump is up by 3 points in Arizona, 7 in Georgia, 4 in Michigan, 5 in Nevada, 11 in North Carolina, 1 in Pennsylvania and 6 in Wisconsin.

As for Biden’s personal approval numbers, they just hit record lows of 34%, and among crucial independent voters, a catastrophic 24%.

In fact, things are so bad that a new Monmouth poll reveals that for the first time, more people are impressed with his hapless, useless, clueless Vice President Kamala Harris than him, albeit by a small margin (35%-34%).

The polling being in free-fall isn't a surprise. His policies on everything from the economy to the military to immigration are about as welcome as a skunk at a barbecue, which is causing his fellow Democrats to run around like their hair is on fire. His physical and mental deterioration is also undeniable. There's just no way the guy can make it through another term; it's doubtful as to whether he can make it to the election.

Morgan has it right:

You don’t need to create sophisticated attack ads when your opponent keeps falling over or saying dumb things — you just show clips of him making an ass of himself again and again and again.

What’s inexplicable is why the Democrats seem so hell-bent on standing by a leader who’s become not just a national but a global joke.

They're sticking with Joe, likely, because they have so few other options. Who else do they have? The impeccably coiffed governor of a Left Coast state who has run that state into the ground? The Vice President, who has all the charm of a veruca and who would lose a battle of wits with a rhododendron? Will they bring out the partially fossilized, daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont? The Democrats just don't have a backbench, and it's telling — when it's apparent that they just don't have anyone better than Joe Biden, well, I'd hate to be in their electoral shoes.

The only thing they have going for them is the GOP's penchant for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Note: I doubt Piers Morgan is going to suddenly do a 180-degree turnabout, start sporting a "Trump 2024" cap, and move into a Pocatello split-level next to a firing range; he's more likely to take up tatting. But, like Bill Maher, he may be a leftist, but he does have a knack for certain realities, and you've seen them here. His calls on the Biden administration are pretty close to the mark.

Will old Joe listen to him? If I had to guess, I'd say... Depends.
