Nancy Pelosi Dives Into Michigan Senate Race With an Early Endorsement in the Primary

Haley Stevens For Congress

So, here is another story in my ongoing attempt to feature what is leading up to the 2026 elections, not only here in the state of Michigan but also across the country.

As I have mentioned numerous times, the 2024 election was a great win overall for Donald Trump and the Republicans, but it is critical to keep the House and the Senate in the midterm elections to build any long-term momentum.

Which is why this Detroit News article caught my eye about who received an endorsement for retiring Senator Gary Peters' seat.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has endorsed U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens in her bid for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Michigan, calling her a "proven fighter."

Stevens' campaign emphasized that she worked with Pelosi when House Democrats passed the CHIPS and Science Act in 2022, which aimed to boost the domestic semiconductor industry.

“From her time as chief of staff on the auto rescue task force to her work strengthening Michigan’s manufacturing industry in Congress, it’s clear Haley is well-equipped to stand up to Donald Trump’s chaos, lower costs for our families and ensure every Michigander can thrive," Pelosi said in a statement.

While some may feel that someone outside of Michigan won't have much influence, there is no doubt that the former Speaker of the House can raise cash. As the New York Times reported back in October 2022, a PAC associated with San Fran Nan raised over 50 million dollars to help people in her good graces.

The House Majority PAC, the outside spending group linked to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, raised more than $36 million in September and nearly $55 million since July.

That's not chump change, and being as we all know money is the key to this whole election thing, the more you have, the better chance it presents to get your message out to the voters.

This is not the first time I have written about Stevens, and it most surely will not be the last. Stevens has been a little bit of a loose cannon in the House of Representatives, but she also came out in her announcement with an ad that was worth noting. I wrote about that a couple of weeks ago.

So take off your partisan hat for a moment and watch this right HERE for a moment.

Of course, this ad is directed right at Southeast Michigan, where the automotive companies are still a vital part of our economic livelihood. So, some people might try to brush the overall message aside because it focuses on blue-collar workers and the automotive industry.

Yet, taking a step back, this ad is focused on one thing and one thing only: the economy.

The very thing that Donald Trump rode to victory in 2024 in a swing state like Michigan.

As I wrote earlier here at RedState, President Trump is coming back to Michigan next week, and here were his victory totals.

President Donald Trump, who won the state of Michigan in 2024 by 80,103 votes, has announced that he's finally coming back to the state for the first time since his election in November of last year and coming to Macomb County, which is the home of the Reagan Democrats.

Macomb, which Trump won all three times he has run, almost gave him the total margin of victory in the entire state in this county alone in 2024 by 69,683. The county and its blue-collar workers once again strayed true to form and chose the rebel Republican by a healthy margin.

This is a clear attempt by somebody who knows how to manipulate and win elections (Pelosi) to try and clear the field in the primary process here in the state of Michigan and to endorse somebody who has been a loyal soldier for the policies that she supports.

Also, being that Gary Peters' retirement surprised most of Washington and Lansing, the Democrats are indicating they are willing to play hardball with somebody who they believe is safe and to clear the field as early as possible before the primaries next year.

They truly need to keep the seat here blue.

Only time will tell if the GOP can sneak in a win here or continue on the overall streak of losing the statewide Senate races that they have not won since 1994, which is now over 30 years.
