Using a strip club for meeting constituents. I should probably just end the story here, being it really is the most brutally honest thing any politician has done — even though he probably didn’t mean for it to be reported.
What more can one say?
Actually, a lot.
Now, I know from the headline, people might want me to get right to the meat and potatoes of this, but I first am duty-bound to just let you know who this young maverick was who is this brazen. The background here will inform you that he is truly a trailblazer and a rising star in the Democrats’ circle of destruction.
Representative Jewell Jones is out on bond after a video of him driving erratically led to his arrest in April of this year, where he was charged with a D.U.I. and is not allowed to drink or do any drugs. During his arrest, he let the officers know that he was gonna tell his good friend Gov. Whitmer about how they were treating him.
No mention if he was going to meet her at a strip club to discuss this treatment.
From Livingston Daily…
Michigan Rep. Jewell Jones, D-Inkster, pleaded guilty to violating his bond after leaving military training without notifying his attorney or court officials.
Jones, 26, is subject to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of his bond in a April drunken driving case. He is a member of the Michigan National Guard.
He had previously been granted an exception from drug and alcohol testing to participate in National Guard training at Camp Grayling from June 12-26. The request was granted and signed off on by a Livingston County judge.
The Livingston County Prosecutor’s office filed an emergency motion earlier this week alleging Jones got a break from testing under false pretenses.
On June 16, Jones tagged himself on Facebook at Planet Fitness in Wayne, Livingston County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Christina Richards said. Records show he attended state House committee meetings in Lansing on June 15 and Tuesday, and on Wednesday prosecutors learned from Camp Grayling officials that he received a special pass to leave the camp to attend the Legislature, she said.
However, that information was not shared with the court or the prosecution, as it should have been, she said.
That might be a bit of a whoops.
Jones has been free since April and, as noted above, is part of the Michigan National Guard. You might think that this young man might have had someone pull him aside and tell him that he was being watched very closely, and he might want to dot his i’s and cross his t’s. He obviously has ignored those warnings, if he received them.
Now that we have some background on him, let’s get to the super-fun part of this story. A politician doing what we all know they do, but actually admitting it.
From The Detroit News…
A Michigan lawmaker reported spending $221 of his campaign money at a strip club in Dearborn for a March 8 “constituent meeting” to discuss “potential economic projects,” according to a disclosure filed Sunday.
State Rep. Jewell Jones, D-Inkster, turned in his new fundraising report ahead of Monday’s 5 p.m. deadline for state officeholders and candidates to submit the records. In a phone interview, Jones described the Pantheion Club, the venue of the meeting, as a “lounge” and said he wasn’t sure if it was a strip club before the phone call became disconnected.
A Twitter account using the name Pantheion Club describes it as “the oldest and most established gentlemens (sic) club in Michigan.”
“We have (to) meet people where they’re at some times … #HOLLA,” Jones said in a text message after the interview. He added that the club had “great lamb chops.”
‘Great lamb chops,’ indeed.
Now I’m sure before Jones’s phone went dead, he would have had a splendid time explaining the difference between a lounge with great lamb chops or a strip club with really great lamb chops. Of course, anyone in Metro Detroit knows that the Pantheion Club is a bit more than a lounge, but what I bet most of us didn’t know is that they have super-duper great lamb chops. Would have never crossed my mind that a place with nude women running around would have great chops.
I’m so sheltered.
While I know this looks bad for Rep. Jones and his future career as an elected official, he is actually honest enough to claim that the business of the state co-mingles in a place where strippers and other unsavory acts take place. Instead of hiding this fact, he LISTED IT ON HIS REPORT, and that is just about the most honest thing an elected official has done. Ever.
I wouldn’t vote for the guy if I was in his district, but I sure as hell would give him an award.
For just being this brutally honest in this one instance.
We need more of that.
