Michigan National Guard Served Undercooked, Moldy Food While in Washington D.C.

Politicians love to talk about solutions to problems that they helped create and while they do, everyday Americans get caught in the crosshairs of their idiocy. For this story though, it is not just any everyday Americans but those who serve in the Michigan National Guard who have been entangled in a political mess not of their doing.

I came across this tweet last night from Fox News Congressional reporter Chad Pergram and it froze me in my tracks.

My first thought, of course, was WHY IN THE HELL ARE THEY STILL IN D.C.?! And, of course, the answer was Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Big Gretch has NOT been having a good seven-day stretch as my colleague Brandon Morse wrote about yesterday right HERE. Seems that bad things happen when you look up to Fredo’s older brother, the Gov. of New York. Also, as I wrote the other day, Gretch is being sued by a journalist to release COVID nursing home data: Pulitzer Winning Journalist Announces COVID Death Count Lawsuit Against Michigan Governor.

So, after I googled what has been happening to our National Guard troops sitting and staring at fences in Washington D.C. I became a tad bit more agitated. Tenfold.

From The Detroit News

Soldiers with the Michigan National Guard are complaining about bad food they’ve been served while providing security at the U.S. Capitol, ranging from undercooked meat to contaminated food.

The complaints reached members of the Michigan congressional delegation and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, whose office said she called Acting Secretary of the Army John E. Whitley about the problem on Feb. 17 — nearly two weeks ago — as soon as the first reports of the food were received.

The governor was assured the problem would be corrected, and guard officials last week told lawmakers the issue had been resolved. That was followed by another round of complaints over the weekend — again of poorly prepared and undercooked food, Whitmer’s office said.

These troops are not in Iraq or Afghanistan but sitting in our nation’s capital.

In one message to a lawmaker, a soldier last month reported that meat served with lunch and dinner was almost always undercooked and sat in its packaging for hours before reaching the troops.

“Multiple soldiers have been getting sick and vomiting after eating, and most of the food is being thrown away,” according to the message. “Morale is very bad; many have served overseas and cannot believe the quality of food they are being fed here.”

I’m going to go ahead and agree with this solider and say I can’t believe this either and quite frankly it is embarrassing to read about something like this and know that no one has done anything about it other than pay lip service. Simply embarrassing.

Sure, all of the Michigan Congressional delegations have written letters to people as stated above and the Governor was reassured TWO WEEKS ago that this was taken care of. Yet, here we are at the beginning of March and the problem has not been solved and from the Governor to our Senators and House members, they have all dropped the ball. Every. One.

Does no one ever think of following up and seeing if the problem was ACTUALLY corrected?

How quickly do you think this problem would have been corrected if any of these elected primadonnas had 1/10th of the issues with food being served in the Capitol? I give it under 36 hours and one of these @$$hats would have leaked to the New York Times what a horrible situation it was and smeared the people responsible.

So, instead of the Michigan delegation taking photos of them standing next to our troops while posing next to fences that are not needed around the Capitol, how about going out there and getting these people some decent grub? The pictures of these pampered political oxygen thieves standing out there with their heads tilted to simulate concern is almost as disgusting as the food these soldiers have been served.

Almost.

So for every day our Governor keeps our troops out in D.C. protecting nothing, the Michigan Congress critters should be out serving food and making sure it meets a standard a tad bit better than what our men and women in uniform have been given so far. You can even pay for it out of your own pockets which are generally very deep for reasons most of us will never totally understand.

I have a better idea though, being the thought of elected officials actually being public servants and making sure those that are protecting their rears are fed well must give them the chills. How about if you kids call the Guv here and tell her to throw away the Cuomo handbook on how to be an ineffective Governor and tell her this…

Bring our troops home N-O-W

Tell her the data and the science approve of this if she hesitates — I’m sure that would seal the deal.
