The fight to cut hair in the Great Lake State is going to the Michigan Supreme Court most likely after a decision handed down today by the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Who knew that cutting hair in the age of COVID-19 would make Gov. Gretch so mad?
From Fox 2 Detroit …
The Owosso barber who defied the state order has lost his case in the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Karl Manke, who continued cutting hair at his barbershop despite calls to close over concerns of spreading COVID-19 was ordered to “immediately cease all operations” after a three-judge panel sided with the state health department.
Manke initially won his first court appearance after a Shiawassee County Circuit Judge claimed the state hadn’t provided enough evidence that keeping the barbershop open presented an immediate threat to public health.
Karl Manke is a 77-year-old barber who has become a bit of a celeb in the state for his stand of telling the Governor and Attorney General that he appreciates their concern but being he is an adult he can make his own choices for his health. His customers don’t seem to mind, so why should the state overlords who are making bank during this crisis. Currently, the Governor gets a salary of $159,300 dollars but she graciously is taking a 10% cut which brings her down to $143,370.
With the house being paid for by the taxpayers along with the transportation she is really struggling.
Manke told the Associated Press that it did not matter what the Court of Appeals ruled that he would continue cutting hair. In previous interviews, he promised that the authorities would have to drag him out in handcuffs to get him to shut down.
As I wrote here at Red State earlier the numbers keep dropping in Michigan JUST THE FACTS: Michigan COVID-19 Numbers for Thursday, May 28th.</a In Shiawassee County where Manke’s barber is located, there have been 239 reported cases and 26 deaths. Obviously the barber cutting hair is not a problem.
So much for keeping this place closed with the data and science.
Time to end this nonsense and stop picking on people who want to just earn a living.
