The current landscape of the political scene has people getting mad if a celebrity shakes the hands of a President that other people don’t like. Personally I don’t care if Alex Baldwin is a flaming lib just be entertaining in shows I watch. I can separate the entertainment aspect from your idiotic views spouted as ignorantly as a prime time MSNBC show host.

Comedy though is the one place where people of all backgrounds should be able to come together and laugh their rear ends off and not take any offense. Of course, that idea is as naive as a Bernie Sanders health care plan lowering costs for the middle class but dammit I wanna believe it.

My colleague here at Red State, Brandon Morse has been covering the topic of comedy on these pages and how it is vitally important to the soul of the country. Here is a sample This One Man’s Video on Ricky Gervais’s Golden Globes Smack Down Is Masterful and you can read more from him RIGHT HERE.

I gonna take a leap and say most comedians are libs. They want a bigger government, pay more taxes yada yada yada. However, when I used to tune into HBO or now Netflix to watch a comedy special, I’m not there to pick apart political views but to hopefully laugh my @$$ off at some good analysis done with a lot of humor.

Dave Chappelle is arguably one of the top comics in the world today. His show “The Chapelle Show” back in the day on Comedy Central was must-watch T.V. and he has been on F-I-R-E doing Netflix specials. His latest must-watch is “Sticks And Stones” and was panned by the critics for some sensitive subjects but was LOVED by those who truly matter, the viewers who gave it a 99% THUMBS UP on Rotten Tomatoes.

So when I watch something by Dave Chappelle I expect to laugh and think a lil than laugh some more. I’m not going to find him more or less funny because of politics.

That’s why his recent endorsement of Andrew Yang means squid dot diddly to me.

According to Yahoo

Dave Chappelle has officially joined the “Yang Gang.”

The comedy legend announced his presidential endorsement on Tuesday, telling fans he’d be supporting entrepreneur Andrew Yang in 2020.

“I’m Yang Gang!” the “Chappelle Show” comedian said in a statement released by the Yang campaign.

“Thank you @DaveChappelle and welcome to the #yanggang. You are the best. Let’s do this for our kids,” Yang wrote on Twitter, along with a photo of the two men.

I don’t support Andrew Yang. After reading some of his ideas on the economy and free money handouts I can see how they just won’t work and yes they have been tried in many other countries.

Yet we live in a country that allows all different people from a variety of backgrounds to present their case of why they should lead. We should all be thankful we live in such a country. Dave Chappelle is exercising his right as a citizen of this republic and that is a good thing even if I don’t personally agree with him on this.

As long as Dave Chappelle continues to apply his craft and make me laugh, I can separate his political views from mine because that is what rational adults do. Non-crazy people don’t burn every DVD of Dodgeball or whine on twitter for hours because Vince Vaugh shook Donald Trump’s hand. That is crazy and if you think otherwise you suck at life.

I hope Chappelle keeps making me laugh regardless of what views he holds politically for many years to come. I mean, unless he endorses a guy who wants to throw all white people into jail, that might be a line too far.

However, I bet he would be making me laugh all the way to the clink.
