This impeachment business is getting the Democrats a lil cranky and it showed in the form of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s weekly press conference today. Madame Speaker was in no mood to answer impeachment questions after she made her opening statement.

Pelosi comes in at the 14:00 minute mark and meanders on for about 11 minutes until she finally takes questions. Going to the 25-minute mark she takes the first of two questions on impeachment and the GOP response to it. When a reporter asks a follow-up question about Sen. Mitch McConnell (I think it was Chad Pergram from Fox News) this is how it went…

Reporter: Speaker to that end, you have criticized Sen. McConnell.

Pelosi interrupts

Pelosi: Any other questions (inaudible) anyone want to talk about Mexico Free Trade Agreement? Anybody care about that? Jobs for the American People? Progress in addressing globalism and the issues, anybody want to talk about the salt tax that we’re passing today, important issues uh that relate to the economic vitality of our communities. Any other questions because I’m not answering any other question on this. (impeachment)

When you have just done the work the founders envisioned you doing, the work that the American people demanded of you, I would think you should be happy and carefree. Answering questions on what a righteous thing you have done should be a breeze and a joy.

From the transcript above and the video, you can tell she wanted no part of it.

What Nancy is doing is pretty plain to see.

She is pivoting from this impeachment public relations disaster and now trying to take some of the credit for an economy that is poised to really take off. The USMCA was dead in the water three weeks ago for a vote in the House but that changed with the impeachment vote being scheduled. Those Democrats in the 31 districts that Trump won in, needed something to go back and crow about.

Also now that Phase 1 of the United States/China trade deal is on track to be signed the Dems need to get a slice of the YUGE economic pie that is being baked. Talking about pacifying the squad with impeachment is so yesterday’s news even though it is barely 12 hours old.

Good luck with that.

Presidents get blamed when the economy tanks and take credit when it thrives. Trump is just going to do what all modern Presidents have done and pound the economic good news into the ground until the Dems cry every time they even hear of a new job report being released. That is why Nancy wants to change the subject.

Impeachment was a loser for the House Democrats and the delay in sending it to the Senate for more political drama cant be good for the donkey party in 2020. I wish them well and am sure they know what they are doing.

If they don’t, they can just cut off reporters’ questions and pretend all is well.
