President Trump joined Queen Elizabeth II other world leaders today in Portsmouth, England for D-Day commemoration ceremonies ahead of the June 6th events tomorrow in Normandy, France. Portsmouth was where the allies had massed troops, ship and supplies for the invasion on June 6th, 1944.
The ceremony kicked off with giving a standing ovation to well over 300 veterans of the operation that took place in 1944 and was officially named Operation Overlord ( D-Day).
Trump was joining leaders from the countries that participated in that event 75 years ago from Canada, Australia, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Denmark, France, Greece, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, and Poland.
The President read a prayer at the ceremony from his predecessor, Franklin D. Roosevelt, that was given on the radio after the invasion had begun…
“Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.
They will need Thy blessings, for the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. But we shall return again and again.And we know that by thy grace and the righteous of our cause our sons will triumph. Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom.
And, O Lord, give us faith. Give us faith in Thee; faith in our sons; faith in each other; faith in our united crusade.Thy will be done Almighty God

President Trump and the First Lady will be heading to Ireland after the ceremonies to meet with the Irish Prime Minister before flying to Normandy tomorrow.
