Did Ivanka REALLY Tell Her Dad to "Cut Bait" With Kavanaugh?

This only fuels the fire of the #FAKENEWS accusations if it is not true.

Also, who still uses the term “cut bait?

All “news” publications since last Friday have been aflutter with all things Brett Kavanaugh and the fate of his Supreme Court nomination after Dianne Feinstein revealed she had been sitting on a troubling letter for over a month. The intrigue and suspense really ratcheted up when it was announced on Sunday that it was Christine Blasey Ford who was accusing a 17-year-old Kavanaugh of sexual assault over 30 years ago.

Now, Vanity Fair has jumped into the fray and there are a couple of lil nuggets in here that I have not seen reported in other places.

According to The Hive column over at VF, First Daughter Ivanka Trump has some interesting advice for her father.

According to sources, several factors are at play. White House advisers are worried that more damaging information about Kavanaugh could come out. Two sources told me the White House has heard rumors that Ford’s account will be verified by women who say she told it to them contemporaneously. People worry, without apparent evidence, of another Ronan Farrow bomb dropping. One source says Ivanka Trump has told her father to “cut bait” and drop Kavanaugh.

Really. I’m serious. Who says “cut bait” unless you are in the fishing industry and last time I checked Ivanka is not.

However, the rest of this is plausible. People inside the White House should be worried about more coming out. This caught everyone by surprise being lots of people have called Brett Kavanaugh nothing short of the greatest boy scout that ever lived. Having something like this accusation drop after the grueling hearings can make any White House staffer lose some sleep.

One other thing I found interesting was this revelation that Trump was leary of defending Kavanaugh being he is a “Bush Guy”

Another reason Trump hasn’t gone to the mat for Kavanaugh is that he’s said to be suspicious of Kavanaugh’s establishment pedigree. “‘He’s a Bush guy, why would I put myself out there defending him?’” Trump told people, according to a former White House official briefed on the conversations. Trump also has expressed frustration with White House counsel Don McGahn, who aggressively lobbied for him to choose Kavanaugh, a source said. “Trump wants this guy on the court, but Trump knows there are five other people he could put on the court if this falls apart,” a former official said.

While true that POTUS has been unusually restrained in going to the social media mat for Brett, that might have to do with his own past in this regard. Trump has now spoken a couple of times with the media since this whole mess went public and actually said yesterday he “felt bad” for Judge Kavanaugh. When was the last time you heard Donald Trump say anything close to that for someone he was not backing?

Now with the revelation that Ford Attorneys Ask For FBI Investigation Before Kavanaugh Hearings Continue it seems the tide may have turned.

Possibly this is the political education of Donald Trump that some were hoping would occur 6 months into the job, not two years.

Think first, tweet later.

However, this shakes out I sure hope we don’t bring back the term “cut bait” anytime soon.

Really, who says that?
