No Truce With Evil. Ever.

It’s been another year. Another 3 million kids, more or less, killed legally in utero in this country. Time to take stock of things.

On the one hand, a substantial amount of progress has been made in the last 12 months. Numerous states have passed laws and regulations curtailing the practice of abortion. In the wake of the trial of Kermit Gosnell, numerous more have passed regulations requiring abortion clinics to meet the same standards as other outpatient surgery centers. In the wake of these regulations, numerous such clinics have closed, proving their worthlessness as purveyors of health.

On the other hand, the cause of life has in some ways suffered some political setbacks in the last year. The most pro-abortion President in history continued his attempt to trample religious liberty and expand taxpayer funding of abortion in clear violation of Federal Law. The always active and morally bankrupt fifth column within the GOP continues to scream that opposition to mass infanticide is a political loser and should be dropped from the party platform. “It is time for a truce,” we are regularly told.

Meanwhile, the other side rejects the very notion that a truce exists or even could be possible. Fabulist women in pink shoes are lionized and feted for literally no reason other than supporting third-trimester abortion on demand. Any common sense regulation of an abortion clinic is fought tooth and nail. Democrats and their allies in the media continue to paint everyone to the right of Wendy Davis on abortion as an extremist and an enemy to women in particular (at least to women who escape the womb).

The forces of death will never admit to a truce. And one side to a battle cannot engage in a truce when the other side refuses – that is instead called surrender. And surrender, in this case, would be an unjustifiable abdication both morally and spiritually. In a world where vast majorities of the American public supports at least some restriction on abortion, opposes taxpayer funding thereof, and where the Socialist government of Spain (Spain!) can get tossed out on its ear for overreach on abortion, we must be willing to continue the crusade on behalf of those who cannot crusade for themselves. We must continue to point out that the true extremists on abortion are elected Democrats, who almost universally push access to and government funding of abortion to full term for any reason or no reason at all; a position which is far outside the mainstream of American politics.

55 million children have been legally killed in this country since Roe v. Wade was decided, without even the dignity of an unmarked grave. It is long past time to name this tragedy what it is: a Holocaust of unimaginable proportions. Hopefully someday, within our lifetimes, we will be able to look upon this abomination as a thing of the past, and erect monuments to help our children not to forget its horrors. In the meantime, let it be recorded that some continued to stand against it, even in the face of countless quislings who counseled surrender and defeat.
