It appears that Great Britain's King Charles has finally had it with his younger brother, Prince Andrew, and at long last has brought the full weight of the crown down on Andrew, who was entirely too close to Jeffrey Epstein and against whom alarming allegations of sexual assault of a minor were made.
In a stunning announcement made Thursday evening, Buckingham Palace issued a strong statement confirming that Andrew would be officially stripped of his royal titles and forced to move out of his royal lodgings. Prince Andrew, going forward, will now be simply known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and will be forced to acquire "alternative private accommodation."
Ouch.

"His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew."
"Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him."
"Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."
I think we call this "a stunning fall from grace," yes?
Thursday's announcement comes weeks after Andrew agreed to stop using the title "Duke of York," which had been bestowed upon him by his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, on the occasion of his 1986 wedding to Sarah Ferguson. The queen was said to have favored Andrew over her other children, which apparently led her to turn a blind eye to her second son's misdeeds.
Jeffrey Epstein Sexual Abuse Accuser Virginia Giuffre Has Died by Suicide at Age 41
The king seems to not have such affections for his sibling, and this new change to Andrew's royal status is both permanent and damning. Giving up the duke title might've hurt a bit, but being demoted from being a prince is significant and it begs the question "what comes next?" Could Andrew Mountbatten Windsor possibly face criminal charges?
Andrew's ultimate downfall stems from his relationship with Virginia Giuffre, who was a minor when she allegedly was recruited by Jeffrey Epstein's "madam" Ghislaine Maxwell and offered to the former prince. Giuffre, who went by the name Jenna at the time and committed suicide earlier this year, penned a memoir, released this month, that detailed her first meeting with the then-prince.
When Prince Andrew arrived at the house that evening, Maxwell was more coquettish than usual. “Guess Jenna’s age,” she urged the prince, after she introduced me. The Duke of York, who was then 41, guessed correctly: 17. “My daughters are just a little younger than you,” he told me, explaining his accuracy. As usual, Maxwell was quick with a joke: “I guess we will have to trade her in soon.”
She also wrote this: "He was friendly enough, but still entitled – as if he believed having sex with me was his birthright." Andrew eventually ended up paying Giuffre a multimillion settlement in a civil case she brought against him.
This change to Andrew's royal status reportedly does not affect his two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The king is said to want to protect his nieces from facing any consequences for their father's actions.
