Bombshell: Mikie Sherrill Was Barred From Her Naval Academy Graduation Over Cheating Scandal

The more we learn about Democrat Mikie Sherrill, current Member of Congress and candidate to be New Jersey's next governor, the more she looks like your average, scandal-plagued DC swamp rat. We reported earlier on her Nancy Pelosi-esque ability to leverage her congressional tenure into remarkable stock market gains, and now we're learning that Sherrill has a scandal-ridden record going back to her days at the United States Naval Academy.

Here's what went down

Back in December of 1992, two dozen of Sherrill's fellow midshipmen were expelled from the Naval Academy after it was discovered they had obtained and shared the answers to an electrical engineering exam. One of those involved in the scandal estimated that as many as 400 of the 663 midshipmen who took the exam had seen the answers ahead of time.

There is no evidence that Mikie Sherrill saw those answers, but she admits that she knew about the cheating and failed to alert school officials, which is a blatant failure to uphold the academy's famed honor code. Per Sherrill, "I didn’t turn in some of my classmates, so I didn’t walk, but graduated and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy, serving for nearly ten years with the highest level of distinction and honor."

Well, not only did Sherrill not walk the graduation stage at the Naval Academy, but her name did not appear alongside those of her more honorable classmates in the commencement program from May 25, 1994. She may try to gloss over the seriousness of her infractions, but the episode speaks a lot to Mikie Sherrill's (lack of) character.

Her Republican opponent, Jack Ciattarelli, took to X to voice his disgust for her dishonorable act.

Today's admission by Congresswoman Sherrill that she was implicated in, and punished for, her involvement in the largest cheating and honor code scandal in the history of the United States Navy is both stunning and deeply disturbing.

For eight years, Mikie Sherrill has built her entire political brand around her time at the Naval Academy and in the Navy, all the while concealing her involvement in the scandal and her punishment. The people of New Jersey deserve complete and total transparency.

Here's how you know this new scandal puts Sherrill's candidacy in grave peril: the brain trust over at CBS News is in full-blown panic over the amount of information about Sherrill's past that was released by the National Archives. And there's a good reason for the panic: the news of her dishonorable Naval Academy career comes on the heels of a new poll that shows Ciattarelli has made up significant ground in recent weeks, and is now tied with Sherrill.

What is it with these Democrat women who are seeking higher office? We've got Abigail Spanberger stoking left-wing rage in Virginia and, now, Mikie Sherrill trying to run from a less-than-savory past that speaks volume about who she is. Voters had best be paying close attention.
