Following in the footsteps of his boss, Vice President Mike Pence today threw his support behind Luther Strange in the GOP primary for the Alabama Senate special election to replace Jeff Sessions, who now serves as Trump’s Attorney General.

Freedom Caucus member Rep. Mo Brooks is also in the running for the nomination, as is former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Roy Moore. Trump formally endorsed Strange last week, and today reiterated his support via his favorite social media platform.
If no one candidate receives 50% or more of the vote, the top two vote getters will go to a runoff in September. The general election will take place in December.
