Donald Trump is a bully. He displayed that all throughout the primaries, with his name calling and the ugly rumors he either began or participated in, regarding his opponents.

Lord knows his wife has been caught looking absolutely miserable when she’s around him.

After a weekend of his lashing out over a New York Times piece written by Maggie Haberman, regarding his longtime fixer, Michael Cohen being in the federal hot seat, Haberman is telling what she knows.

The piece (which I discussed here) quoted several Trump associates, suggesting that Cohen had been endlessly loyal to Trump, but that it was largely one-way devotion. According to insiders, Trump gave little regard to Cohen, in spite of his devotion. To quote Trump pal, Roger Stone’s words, “Donald goes out of his way to treat him like garbage.”

That’s quite a contrast to Trump’s panicky weekend tweets, where he mentions Cohen several times, insisting that Cohen would never “flip” on him.

And that’s at the root of the panic, as observers wonder aloud if there is something there that could be considered “flippable.” After all, given his years of tireless service, if anybody had dirt on Trump, it would be Cohen.

Cohen’s home and office were raided by the FBI several weeks ago. He’s reportedly been under investigation for months, and now, insiders say he faces potential charges of wire and bank fraud, as well as campaign finance law violations, in regards to his payoff of several Trump mistresses before the 2016 election.

Haberman’s Friday piece explored the question of Cohen weighing Trump’s crappy treatment of him through the years, against the well-being of he and his family.

Appearing on CNN to further discuss the piece, Haberman (who, despite Trump’s denial, has spoken with Trump repeatedly) suggested that Cohen isn’t alone. Being a nasty jerk is just who Trump is.

“He is abusive, according to almost everyone I speak to, to most people in his orbit, and family is not excepted from that,” Haberman said on CNN. “But he is particularly abusive to Cohen over the years, and then the question becomes, does that come back to haunt him.”

Haberman isn’t the first one to say this. This isn’t the first time someone has pointed out that Donald Trump is a hateful person to those who know him.

I’ve actually had people who have met him tell me he was quite gracious, and I have no reason to doubt that. Anybody, even a lunatic like Trump, can be civil, to the point of seeming “nice” when meeting somebody for the first time, or for a brief period.

It’s usually for the purpose of advancing their own goals. In Trump’s case, that’s absolutely the reason.

He’s been doing the show business thing long enough to know how to treat fans, and at this point in our nation’s cultural/moral decline, that’s all Trump’s defenders are – fans.

Haberman continued:

“The story was really not about, you know, destroying their relationship The president has destroyed their relationship pretty handily on his own,” she said.

That remains to be seen. Cohen has said he’d take a bullet for Trump. What was broached in Haberman’s piece, however, is the question of if he’d allow his wife and kids to take a bullet for Trump.

Also, as has been pointed out, things for Trump may not be so much about what special counsel Robert Mueller is doing, right now. Cohen’s case really has nothing to do with the ongoing Russia probe.

Mueller made the referral, and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein signed off on the raid on Cohen’s home and office, but it wasn’t the Russia probe that prompted the interest. It was the Stormy Daniels revelation, and Cohen admitting that he did, in fact, pay the porn star $130,000 a month before the 2016 election.

Who knows if there’s anything damaging to Trump in the material gathered in the Cohen raid? If it turns out there is something there, however, Donald Trump’s hateful nature may finally come back to bite him.
