Javanka Are Going Nowhere (and John Kelly Understands)

No, I wouldn’t take this as a subtle message, would you?

Princess Ivanka, President Trump’s favored child, is assuring the world that has been murmuring about she and husband Jared Kushner’s slow ouster from the White House that all is well.

In fact, she’s signaling that the likely instrument of that ousting, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, is well onboard with Team Nepotism.

He understands.

Speaking of Kelly and his understanding:

“One of the first things he said is, ‘You are family. You are part of the reason the president is here.’ He understands the role of family. He is a very family-oriented person and made it clear he doesn’t want to get in the way of that,” Ivanka Trump told the Washington Post of the retired four-star general.

Really? Even when the family is eyeball-deep in ethics issues and problems understanding boundaries?

She continued:

“But he also needs to make sure that in our role as advisers, we go through the process, and we respect that and have embraced that,” she continued.

Except you’re going through the process badly. Kushner has had to take multiple shots at getting his security clearance, and Kelly has knocked his security clearance down from “Top Secret” to “Secret,” as part of his attempt to clean up the system that has otherwise been left lax.

Meanwhile, some reports are that Trump has been suggesting that the couple pack up and sneak back to their lives in New York.

It would probably be better for them, all things considered.

Kushner has been plagued with rumors of financial troubles with his family business. That came along with one report that the company took millions in loans from several companies that were given access to White House meetings.

Then, of course, there was the intercepted communications from officials with 4 different foreign nations – Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Israel, and China – discussing how Kushner was ripe for manipulation, due to his financial troubles.

As if that were not enough, Ivanka isn’t the most prized member of the administration.

Ivanka Trump has also been allegedly irritating fellow Trump administration staffers by taking advantage of her close relationship with her father, according to CNN.

I just don’t see a reality where John Kelly is undisturbed and totally chill about all of this. In fact, I’m thinking the only thing keeping him from going completely ape is the whole nepotism thing.

Yes, this is a message, but not to us.
