Ivanka Trump Confronted With Her Dad's Sexual Misconduct (and Here's Why Her Answer Is Right)

Before the 2016 election, over a dozen women came forward to accuse then-candidate Donald Trump of some form of sexual misconduct.

This was after the 2005 recording of Trump admitting to a chuckling Billy Bush of “Access Hollywood” that his wealth and fame allowed for him to sexually assault women.

It’s just not sane or rational, given Trump’s history, long before running for president, coupled with his own words, to think that all of these women who have come forward are liars.

Sure, some may be embellishing. Some may be outright lying. They’re not all lying, however. It’s ridiculous to even consider it.

With that in mind, NBC News correspondent, Peter Alexander approached the subject during a sit-down interview with Trump’s favored child, Ivanka Trump.

Alexander asked Ivanka if she believed her father’s accusers.

Her response was predictable:

“I think it’s a pretty inappropriate question to ask a daughter if she believes the accusers of her father when he’s affirmatively stated there’s no truth to it,” the first daughter told NBC’s Peter Alexander in an interview that aired on Monday.

“I don’t think that’s a question you would ask many other daughters. I believe my father, I know my father, so I think I have that right as a daughter to believe my father,” she continued.

Really? Your dad is such a stand-up guy when it comes to women.

Say, why did your parents divorce? Money troubles?

Yeah, we know what your father is and who he is, and you know it, too.

Here’s the thing: Ivanka is right.

I can’t begin to imagine sitting with someone for an interview that would be televised to the world, and then trashing my dad.

It was an inappropriate question to ask.

For whatever he’s done, or as awful as he may be, he’s still her father. What did Alexander expect her to say? He put her in an awkward position.

I can only imagine there’s at least some level of pain and/or embarrassment that the family has to endure, knowing of their father’s exploits. That’s a personal thing, and while it’s a perfectly legitimate concern, as it speaks to the character of the man leading our nation right now, it’s not a wound you open with his kids.

This was the equivalent of asking Malia Obama if she believed those who accused her father of being a closeted homosexual.

We all know that would never happen.

It’s rare that I do stick up for Trump or any of his opportunistic, elitist brood, but this will be one of those times.

There are so many things Ivanka Trump should be answering for, but asking her to call out her dad as a sexual abuser is just too much.

Whatever he is, he’s still her dad, and she owes it to him to honor him by not trashing him in public. If she’s disappointed in her dad’s behavior, let them work it out, as a family.

Privately.

Ask her about policy. Ask her how it is she gets so much access, and if nepotism in the highest office in the land is good for this nation. All of that is fair game.

Low blow, Mr. Alexander.
