Mother of Parkland Survivor Claims Internet Hoax Has Resulted in Death Threats

You had to know this was going to be the result of a mass, wrongful social media campaign that aimed to silence dissent.

What you don’t expect (or shouldn’t) is just how nasty people can be, especially in light of the fact that a lot of kids just lost their lives.

David Hogg is a survivor from the Parkland, Florida mass shooting, that has been making the rounds on TV, as he and others speak about their experience and call for action against gun violence.

Hogg is also the subject of the internet rumor mill. I’ve seen his picture meme’d to show him appearing in a news story about an August 2017 shooting in Los Angeles.

The term the tinfoil hat wearers are using is “crisis actor,” and it’s being pushed by garbage sites like Gateway Pundit.

Hogg has spoken out and condemned those rumors.

“It’s annoying. I hate it. But it’s part of American democracy,” Hogg said in a phone interview with the Post. “Am I an actor? No. Am I a witness? Yes.”

And now, according to Hogg’s mother, Rebecca Boldrick, the family is receiving death threats.

Not cool.

“I’m under so much stress,” she told the Post.

“I’m angry and exhausted,” she continued. “Angry, exhausted and extremely proud.”

I imagine if you’re trying to defend your kid, after coming so close to losing him, having to defend him over and over because of a few crackpots and sociopaths on social media is likely to wear you out.

Recently, a staffer for state Rep. Shawn Harrison, by the name of Benjamin Kelly went after Hogg and another Parkland survivor, Emma González. Kelly emailed a Tampa Bay reporter and pushed that same, destructive conspiracy theory.

According to Tampa Bay Times reporter Alex Leary, the staffer said, “Both kids in the picture are not students here but actors that travel to various crisis when they happen.”

Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran (R) later tweeted that he fired Kelly.

Kelly was too dumb to have a job, anyway.

I’ll concede that the left-leaning media and Democrat lawmakers are salivating at the chance to trot fresh-faced, traumatized kids in front of cameras, in order to push their gun-grabbing agenda. We knew that was coming, as they never stop looking for angles to A) disarm citizens, and B) make the slaughter of unborn children seem like a good thing.

It’s not ok, however, to push rumors, based on memes, or to threaten these kids or their families.

They’ve been through enough.
