In Released Transcript, Fusion GPS Attorney Claims Trump Dossier Has a Body Attached to It

By now, you’ve probably heard that Senator Dianne Feinstein released the transcripts from Fusion GPS co-founder, Glenn Simpson’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Feinstein unilaterally released the transcripts, against the urging of Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Republicans.

Simpson, possibly sick of his company’s name and reputation being smeared because of the Trump dossier, had joined Democrats in calling for the release.

We’ll be hearing about those transcripts for the next several weeks, I’m sure, but the Washington Examiner offers one interesting portion to come out of the 300+ page document.

There’s already been one death associated with the Trump-Russia dossier.

It was Simpson’s lawyer, Josh Levy, who suggests in the transcript that they have to be very careful how they speak, because of safety concerns.

“He wants to be very careful to protect his sources,” Josh Levy, an attorney for Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson said in the closed 10-hour hearing at the Senate Judiciary Committee on Aug. 22, 2017. “Somebody’s already been killed as a result of the publication of this dossier, and no harm should come to anybody related to this honest work.”

Ok. Wow. Who was killed?

They’re not saying, but Oleg Erovinkin, a former KGB general helped Christopher Steele put together the dossier. In December 2016 he was found dead in his car. No cause of death has been determined or announced.

Erovinkin was an aide to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, who was repeatedly named in the dossier. In the dossier, Steele said he has a source close to Sechin.

For those who can peel through the transcript, it holds quite a few interesting nuggets. There’s a lot of mention of Felix Sater and the Russian mob, for instance.

That may be why Feinstein rushed to release the transcript. The drumbeat against Fusion GPS and the efforts to use the dossier as reason to shut down the Russia probe may have forced Feinstein to drop what she felt was a counter-move against those efforts.
