It sounds a lot like the “reaching across the aisle” that many on the right condemned former President George W. Bush for, so it’ll be interesting to see how his true believers react.

Then again, I have very little hope in seeing any compromise that doesn’t actually mean the Democrats get whatever they want.

However it pans out, President Trump is hailing this new age of bipartisan fellowship, when it comes to things like infrastructure spending (he’d like to see a $1 trillion boondoggle, just like Obama), and healthcare.

Based on the fact that the very unfair and unpopular Individual Mandate has been terminated as part of our Tax Cut Bill, which essentially Repeals (over time) ObamaCare, the Democrats & Republicans will eventually come together and develop a great new HealthCare plan!

Making that happen (even if it does turn out to be all the Democrats want) means you first have to get them past their hurt feelings over Obamacare. This was the signature legislative achievement for their god, Barack Obama, and when Republicans began making overtures to “tweak” it, it was the equivalent of drawing a picture of Mohammed in a tutu, eating a pork chop sandwich.

The GOP tax overhaul bill, which was signed into law last week by Trump, removes the individual mandate which was one of the most notable and controversial details of former President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated last week that repealing the Obamacare individual mandate would increase the number of uninsured people by 13 million in the next 10 years.

So, roughly around the same amount of people – give or take a couple million – that lost their health coverage when the (un)Affordable Care Act took over?

This is one of those rabbit holes that never should have been entered, but now that it has, finding a way out that garners bipartisan support is probably more fantasy than a realistic goal.
