BREAKING: Matt Lauer Fired from Today Show Following Report of Sexual Misconduct

Oh, how the mighty have fallen, and are still falling.

Is there really an epidemic of sexual harassment in entertainment, politics, and news?

If we can believe what has become a near-weekly onslaught of reports, then, the answer is “yes.”

The latest head to roll is that of NBC News’ rock star, Matt Lauer, fired due to inappropriate sexual conduct.

Lauer was the co-host of NBC’s “Today” show. His co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, along with Hoda Kotb broke the news to the viewers today, reading a statement from NBC News chairman Andy Lack.

Calling it a “sad morning,” Guthrie read from Lack’s statement:

“Dear colleagues, on Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer,” Lack’s statement read. “It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company’s standards. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment.”

Just like that – a 20 year career blown.

The statement went on to point out that this was the first complaint they’d received about Lauer in all that time, but that from what they were hearing, it was likely not an isolated incident.

Lack said NBC’s “highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected, and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences, no matter who the offender. We are deeply saddened by this turn of events.”

I’ve gotta say, this isn’t some low-level personality. Lauer is a big fish.

An emotional Guthrie admitted “we just learned this moments ago” and said the “Today” team is “devastated and we are still processing all of this.”

“All we can say is that we are heartbroken. I’m heartbroken for Matt. He is my dear, dear friend and my partner and he is beloved by many, many people here. And I’m heartbroken for the brave colleague who came forward to tell her story and any other women who have their own story to tell.”

Guthrie also vowed that they would handle the story like reporters, keeping the viewers informed of new developments.

I honestly don’t understand why the dam has broken and things that have been long held back or overlooked are coming in a flood now, but I’m not mad about it. This is a necessary purge.

I’ve been saying for over a year now that you don’t make heroes out of politicians. I’ve learned my lesson. Now I can say that goes not just for politicians, but any other person in a position of power, because they’re all being exposed, now.

And speaking of the stupidity of men in power, President Trump couldn’t wait to take his own jab at the situation with Lauer.

Mr. P***y-Grabber, himself.

You’d think with this new zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior that we’re seeing in our society, something akin to a human conscience would encourage him to keep a respectful silence on the matter.

Nope.

The man has no filter between his brain and his mouth (or fingers), and this was a chance to say, “FAKE NEWS!” again, while also pretending he’s better than a common sexual harasser.

I guess if this is what we elect as president, finding out that we’re infested with men who have no idea how to conduct themselves around women shouldn’t be a shock.
