It is the largest guided (non-nuclear) bomb in the world, nicknamed MOAB (“Mother of all Bombs”).
Its actual title is GBU-43/B Massive Ordinance Air Blast Bomb – and news reports are now saying it was dropped in Afghanistan at 7pm local time Thursday.

It was actually developed during the Iraq war, but until now, has never been used in battle.
With a blast radius of 1-mile in either direction, and the target being ISIS tunnels and personnel in the Nangarhar region, it surely sent a message.
The power of this weapon cannot be overstated.
