Maxine Waters Is The First Democrat Lawmaker To Announce Boycott Of Trump Address

This shouldn’t be a shock to many.

California Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters will be doing her nails, or something of that nature tonight, rather than attend President Trump’s address to Congress.

Well.

Her office is denying that she meant to encourage others to skip the address, but still, this isn’t a new thing for Waters.

The California Democrat similarly refused to attend Trump’s inauguration in January, saying she “never contemplated even going near any of those activities.” Nearly 70 other Democratic lawmakers also skipped the ceremony.

“I don’t honor him, I don’t respect him and I don’t want to be involved with him,” Waters said at the time.

Kinda rude, Maxine.

Earlier in the month, she “stumbled” (?) by saying it was her desire to lead Trump to impeachment.

She later clarified that comment, saying that she meant the president’s actions were leading him toward impeachment.

“I think he is leading himself into that kind of position, where folks will begin to ask, ‘What are we going to do?’” she said. “And the answer’s going to be, eventually, we’ve got to do something about him.”

So far, no other lawmakers have mentioned that they will skip tonight’s address, but I’m taking bets on whether we’ll have a Joe Wilson moment, or not.
