Romans 11:34 NLT – “For who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice?”

Since this sham of an election cycle began, many a self-proclaimed prophet has sought to know God’s will for our nation.

As a true Charismatic – that is, on fire, sould-out, Holy Ghost-filled, praying in “tongues,” Pentecostal believer – I believe in prophecy. I believe in it as a gift of the Spirit.

That being said, I also believe in the direction of 1 John 4:1 (NLT): “Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.”

This election has been the most depressing and bizarre that I’ve ever lived through. For a Christian, it is particularly heartbreaking, because so many who profess this faith are being led by their fear, rather than standing on their faith.

I’ve expressed my heart on this matter with you on these pages on several occasions, so bear with me if a bit of this seems to be repetitive. I’m still trying to reach people.

The impetus for this piece was a conversation from earlier in the day, as well as one several days ago. I’ve had two believers reach out and tell me that God was signaling to vote for Donald Trump!

Both seemed very sure that they were lifting a burden off of me by relaying the messages

While I appreciated them thinking of me that way, I couldn’t agree with the messages they were delivering. My own spirit has been very much in the opposite camp.

Test the spirits.

So are prophetic words just so much bunk?

I don’t believe that, either. I absolutely believe in hearing from the Holy Spirit, that prophetic word does come, and that there are people who have that as a gift. That being said, when you feel a word is being delivered, you test it against Biblical teachings and you become still and actively listen for what the Holy Spirit would say to you about that word.

Now, with that bit of background out of the way, I say this, to all those Christians who have proclaimed Trump “God’s man”:

STOP IT.

If you want to pray for Donald Trump, I encourage it. I do it myself. While you’re on your knees and lifting up Trump, are you also praying for Hillary Clinton?

If you’re not, you’re a hypocrite.

Do you think God loves her less, because she’s a Democrat?

Then you have never met my God.

Donald Trump is an abusive, profane, vulgar man.

“But God can use him!”

He can. He can use Hillary Clinton, too.

See what I did there?

What you don’t get to do is dismiss those who cannot support Trump as “Hillary supporters” or heretics, which I have seen happen far too many times.

Don’t accuse me of pushing against God’s will. Do you really think I have that much power?

I recognize that it is God that allows men to come to power, and his reasons are His own.

Do we have a say?

We do. We had 17 choices during the primary, and there were intelligent, godly, prayerful men of good character and demeanor among them.

Christians rejected them because they weren’t “angry” enough.

Not all Christians, I’m happy to say, but there were so many choices that the vote was split, and the worst of the lot was forced on us.

Since that time, however, Christians have rushed to defend him. Faith leaders like Ralph Reed, James Dobson, and Robert Jeffress have stood by him, even after the revelation of his vulgarity towards women was revealed and accuser after accuser has stepped forward.

Trump has not repented of his words, or his deeds. He has, instead, doubled down, and further demeaned these women by insulting their looks, to adoring crowds, some claiming to be Christians.

“But that was in his past!”

Until he shows a truly repentant heart, it’s in his present.

Far too many believers have launched a holy war in Trump’s name, going after those believers that they see as apostates to the coming Trump church.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NIV) – “¹³ For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. ¹⁵ It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”

For myself and the other unwashed pagans to the Trump fanaticism, I’m telling you who have twisted the Word of God and the gifts of the Spirit, in order to justify your allegiance to that man to truly search your hearts. Is it God who is calling you to support Trump, or is it your comfort with a worldly system that has already failed us many times?

Newsflash: God is nonpartisan!

Governor Perry once said that God was smart enough not to belong to any political party. He’s right, too.

When the whole world and everything in it is His, what use does he have with worldly power? He already has eternal power.

He sets up kingdoms and He brings down kings. Can Trump improve on anything God has already set in place? Can Hillary?

No.

With that in mind, I’ll say this. God has no “man” in this election. We can’t know exactly what His will is, and He doesn’t need our advice.

No, He cares about how we treat each other, during, and how we stand, after.

And if you’re pushing a narrative now that we must vote for Trump, or else… then you have put our God in a very small box and I fear that your faith will be shaken when the time to truly stand comes.

As for me, I refuse to vote out of fear. My feet are planted on faith and principle, and this is where I will stand.

Meditate on that.
