Having Trump in the race has done amazing things for voter interest. The Republican primaries have seen massive turnout in most states.
The general election in November will likely yield equally impressive numbers at the polls. It may not be the kind of numbers Republicans were hoping for, but they will be there.
From the Washington Examiner:
About one million legal immigrants are expected to try to naturalize and register to vote this year in an attempt to defeat presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, according to an array of liberal activists organizing a voter registration drive in battleground states.
Yes, for those who think a Trump candidacy is something that can be worked with, the reality is that the gilded toad is not only driving actual, principled conservatives away from the Republican party, but it is spurring an urgent mission for Democrats.
National Partnership for New Americans, an umbrella organization that includes an array of immigrant rights groups as well as traditional Democratic mainstays such as the Service Employees International Union, wants the number of naturalization applications to increase from the traditional figure of about 650,000 to one million. In March and April, they helped 12,781 legal permanent residents apply for naturalization, according to executive director Joshua Hoyt.
That’s 650,000 to 1 million new Democrats and union members.
Great job, Branch Trumpidians.
The actual naturalization process could take five months to complete, which would likely exclude most of those new voters from being able to register in time for the November election, but U.S. Customs and Immigration Services is seeking to expedite the process.
Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) remarked in a Wednesday conference call with reporters:
“There is really a hunger for citizenship and it’s driven by the desire to participate in this year’s presidential election, and particularly this presidential election.”
Donald Trump, to the Democrats, is truly the gift that keeps on giving. I’m not just referring to his long history of financing Democrat candidates, either.
“The activists are targeting long-time legal residents as well young people who can vote for the first time. ‘We need to go to the graduating classes across the country and make sure we sign those 18-year-olds up to vote,’ Gutierrez said.”
Buckle up, Patriots. The descent into Hell will not be a slow and steady slide, but a catastrophic plummet, and the very ones driving us down are those who believe they’re making America great again.
