Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has accused the FBI of leaking the planning memo of a large-scale Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in the Los Angeles area to the LA Times. Friday, the LA Times published an article headlined "Leaked document says ‘large scale’ immigration enforcement action coming soon to L.A."

Federal law enforcement agents are planning to carry out a “large scale” immigration enforcement action in the Los Angeles area before the end of February, according to an internal government document reviewed by The Times.

The operation, which would be spearheaded by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, will focus on people who do not have legal status in the country or who already have pending orders of removal, according to the document, which was circulated among some federal law enforcement officials this week.

Although immigration operations have been ramped up across the country since President Trump took office, no sweeping actions have taken place in L.A., a city Trump repeatedly criticized during his presidential campaigns.

ICE did not respond to a request for comment.

A federal law enforcement source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said agents with the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Los Angeles field offices are being called in to assist.

“They needed more bodies,” the official said.

A former federal law enforcement official, who said they had been informed about the recent preparations but spoke on the condition of anonymity fearing retaliation, also said FBI agents were being ordered to participate in pending ICE “raids” in Los Angeles. Neither of the officials could provide an exact time frame for the potential actions.

It's pretty clear from the story that the leaker is either current or former FBI, and he is pissed off that the FBI is being asked to help with ICE actions.

Secretary Noem voiced the same concerns very publicly on Sunday.

This isn't the first time there have been complaints of information on ICE raids leaking. Border Czar Tom Homan had this to say after a major raid focused on Venezuelan gangs in Colorado was compromised.

“This isn’t a game. We know that TDA is dangerous,” Homan said Thursday in a statement to reporters outside the White House.

“Everybody can agree to that, but when they get a heads-up that we are coming, it’s only a matter of time before our officers are ambushed,” he added, according to The Associated Press. “Their job is dangerous enough. So we are going to address this very seriously.”

The FCC is investigating a Soros-owned radio station in Los Angeles for broadcasting the location of ICE agents; see NEW: Feds Investigate Soros-Backed Radio Station Caught Broadcasting Locations of ICE Agents.

This may have gone beyond the point of bureaucratic hijinks. Pam Bondi said Sunday that the Department of Justice will investigate the leaks and take legal action against the leakers.

If anyone leaks anything, people don't understand that risks our lives of great law enforcement. We will find out who you are and come after you. It's not going to stop our mission and stop the President's mission to Make America Safe Again. We were very clear with the lawsuit we filed in Chicago: if you don't follow the law, you will be prosecuted by the Department of Justice.

The resistance here is deep. Apparently, the word has gone out from the Hoover Building that volunteering to help ICE might not be a great career move.

This kind of nonsense needs to be brutally checked before it becomes a sport like it was during the first Trump administration.
