The next phase in this drama will be the Taliban raising their wretched rag above what cost American taxpayers $1 billion to build and represented American influence in Central Asia.

What happens next? Will it be the North Vietnamese version of victory, with the unlucky being sent to reeducation camps? Or will it be the Khmer Rouge version — with the losers and many winners slaughtered on an industrial scale?
