Reuters is announcing that the Democrats will introduce a bill of impeachment against President Trump on Monday. That, if your numeracy is working, is seven days (maybe eight, depending upon how you count it) until Joe Biden’s inauguration as Usurper in Chief.

Why, you may ask, would a sane political party with sane leadership enter into this nonsense within a week of a change of government? The short answer is that you really wouldn’t. There is no way in Hell that this monstrosity gets through the Senate. The weakness of it is shown by this tweet from TheMostSlappableFaceOnTheInternet®
There are more than 110 Democratic co-sponsors to the articles of impeachment against Trump. @MSNBC

That only half of the House Democrat caucus will sign onto this nonsense with there being no way that Trump can mess with their perks is a sign of weakness, not strength.
This, in my view, is just an initial indication of the way the Democrats will overplay this. I don’t link to sites run by mentally defective grifters, so I won’t give a link to The Bulwark. But, according to the ever-rational Jonathan Last, there are three reasons: removing Trump from office a week before he leaves office makes democracy safer (these are the “Conserving Conservatism” goobers, after all); a successful impeachment attempt (checks Constitution…hmmm, requires a 2/3 majority in favor) bars Trump from running again; and forcing an impeachment vote will make Republicans come to grips with their own ugly and twisted nature and beg forgiveness of the Bulwark and Lincoln Project grifters and give them lots of sweet contracts.
The idea has a strange sort of logic if you live in a universe dominated by unicorns and wishcasting, but in the cold light of reality, it says someone has not taken their Thorozine for way, way too long.
There is a logic at work here. Nancy Pelosi and her allies have been pushing the narrative that Trump is unbalanced for a while. When you look at the actions of Trump and Pelosi, you have to agree that 50% of them are unbalanced and that 50% is composed of the one rolling her dentures around in her mouth, the one that put the guy with the Chinese intelligence agent girlfriend on the subcommittee overseeing the CIA.
1) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is clear that if Vice President Pence and the cabinet don’t invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office, they very well could consider a second set of articles of impeachment for Mr. Trump

Today Pelosi announced that she had talked to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff about preventing President Trump from launching a nuclear attack on some unnamed, and presumably undeserving, country within the next week.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told colleagues in a letter Friday that she has spoken to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark A. Milley, about keeping an “unstable president” from accessing the nuclear codes.
Her letter came shortly after Trump tweeted that he would not attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden on Jan. 20, breaking with a long-standing tradition of outgoing presidents attending the swearing-in ceremony of their successors.
This is all aimed at labeling Trump as dangerous and unstable. There is no expectation that he’ll be removed, but there is a hope that they can destroy the man and his movement because they know if they don’t’, this is all coming back to haunt them in 2022 and 2024. What they don’t realize is that every one of these bitter, futile, and mindless attacks on Trump hardens the resolve of the people who voted for him by revealing the true nature of the Democrat ruling class to average Americans who were beguiled into thinking that Joe Biden was the answer to any question other than “pudding?”
