House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has ignominiously surrendered on her ill-conceived jihad to try to tell Mitch McConnell how to run the Senate. I would say she blinked, but because plastic surgery has merged her eyebrows and hairline, I’m not sure that metaphor works.

She was done in by a stubborn Senate Majority Leader, a Senate that has no stomach for this nonsense in an election year, her lack of popularity and credibility with Senate Democrats, a vicious spiteful little half-man on the House Intelligence Committee, and her decision to take political advice from a convicted felon (John Dean) and a superannuated law professor who hasn’t had a cogent thought in a decade or so (Laurence Tribe).
