As we’ve documented here in some detail, the impeachment of Donald Trump is collapsing under the weight of its own dishonesty and the pressure of the 2020 election. The exact ‘high crime’ or ‘misdemeanor’ President Trump stands accused of has gone through three iterations after the ‘collusion’ and ‘obstruction’ failed to gain any traction. And Pelosi, herself, seems uncertain of how to proceed with a process neither her caucus nor the voters are eager to see go further.
Sometimes, though, pressure becomes sort of the “in vino veritas” for politicians. And impeachment pressure has had that effect on Pelosi. Unable to find a rational argument to the two main points opposing this fake impeachment — there are no crimes and this is an election year so let the voters decide — Pelosi tried to stomp down on those opinions before they began to corrupt the GroupThink of her caucus.
“The weak response to these hearings has been, ‘Let the election decide.’ That dangerous position only adds to the urgency of our action, because POTUS is jeopardizing the integrity of the 2020 elections.”
Take a little time and consider that.
Pelosi considers the matter too serious to be left to the voters. You can smear as much lipstick on Pelosi and her statement as you wish but the underlying contempt of the American voter, the electoral process, and the Constitution are still on display for all to see. For instance, this from Laurence Tribe who has not found a Democrat he’s unwilling to fluff.
.@SpeakerPelosi rightly says it would be dangerous to leave our fate to an election whose integrity Trump is eroding. That DOESN’T mean she’s prejudged the evidence. She’s just saying those who say “Wait for the election” are putting all their eggs in a basket Trump is shredding.

Tribe’s argument, like virtually all of his arguments since November 2016, is utterly bizarre. Trump is not accused of “shredding” the 2020 election as there aren’t even official candidates for that office yet. The idea that getting Ukraine to do its job by investigating the sh**hole of corruption that is Burisma only jeopardizes, in Pelosi’s words, “the integrity of the 2020 elections” if you buy the twin premises that a) requiring recipients of US aid to fight corruption is wrong and b) that the offspring of prominent Democrats are free to grift to their heart’s content because that is their birthright and nature.
Nancy Pelosi just stated that “it is dangerous to let the voters decide Trump’s fate.” @FoxNews In other words, she thinks I’m going to win and doesn’t want to take a chance on letting the voters decide. Like Al Green, she wants to change our voting system. Wow, she’s CRAZY!

As is so often the case when the left is caught out like this, they start criticizing grammar and punctuation rather than addressing the core issue. This is no exception.
Trump bashed Nancy Pelosi for an impeachment quote. It actually came from a Fox News reporter. https://t.co/pVj26tVmJV

Despite Trump’s use of quotation marks, Pelosi did not say this https://t.co/7zLzCMK81L

Regardless of the verbatim accuracy of the quote, what Pelosi is clearly saying is that the voters can’t be trusted to arrive at the correct decision in November. One would think that if the case for corruption was so worthy of impeachment, the nation, at large, would have zero problem acknowledging the seriousness of the crime and voting Trump out of office. But everyone knows that this exercise is a fraud perpetrated upon the nation and no amount of quibbling over words can remove the fact that the Democrat House leadership is still trying to overturn the 2016 election.
Millionaire Nancy Pelosi is right!
Why let the whiny peasants choose who will lead this country?
My word could you imagine a country where the power of government was derived from the will of the masses and not an elite group of millionaires with ties to corporate interests? https://t.co/4nj1fxM8ka
