One of the hallmarks of the Trump administration’s tenure in Washington has been that the mask of neutrality that the media had balanced rather uneasily upon its twisted, hirsute visage has now been ripped away and we’re seeing these people for exactly what they are and how they operate. What they are is a collection of hyper-partisans who actively push Democrat and progressive talking points out as news. How they operate is rather shocking it its simplicity. They will simply lie, they will literally make stuff up and push it out as news. You need look no further than the coverage of the Russia hoax to see that there is literally no story so bizarre that they will not run with it if they think it either helps a Democrat or damages a Republican.
Last night, I did two pieces on the subject. In one a Huffington Post reporter named Arthur Delaney actually lied to Senator Josh Hawley to try to get him to comment on a fabricated quote Delaney had attributed to President Trump. In the second, Keith Olbermann’s former paramour (the breakup, one assumes, was brought on by one or the other or both of them sobering up and getting Lasik treatments) Katy Tur lied to her audience about what Trump said to Ukraine President Zelensky.
As acting DNI Joseph Maguire was testifying before the House Intelligence Committee this morning, it didn’t take long for the media to begin fabricating stories about him. This is from the Washington Post.
The acting director of national intelligence threatened to resign over concerns that the White House might attempt to force him to stonewall Congress when he testifies Thursday about an explosive whistleblower complaint about the president, according to current and former U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
The revelation reflects the extraordinary tensions between the White House and the nation’s highest-ranking intelligence official over a matter that has triggered impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
The officials said Joseph Maguire, who was thrust into the top intelligence post last month, warned the White House that he was not willing to withhold information from Congress, where he is scheduled to testify in open and closed hearings on Thursday.
Maguire denied the story in an official statement:
Maguire statement:
“At no time have I considered resigning my position since assuming this role on Aug. 16, 2019. I have never quit anything in my life, and I am not going to start now. I am committed to leading the Intelligence Community…”— Julian E. Barnes (@julianbarnes) September 25, 2019
He denied it again in sworn testimony today.
DNI debunks Washington Post’s ridiculous story that he threatened to resign. These endless “mistakes” are the reason that no one trusts the media. pic.twitter.com/YxeGXLm2Pb

The story has been revised to include comment by the White House which, for some reason, it never occurred the Washington Post to seek before publishing the story.
This is actually not true. And we would have gone on the record to say that if the @washingtonpost had given us more than 6 minutes (literally) to respond. https://t.co/5EBnBlShbK

There are a lot more of these stories floating about but, from a writing standpoint, it gets tiring. There is little purpose in publicizing deliberate lies and deceptions by the Democrat media when they’ve given up the pretense of even caring about objectivity.
