How many times have you heard some progressive on television or some leftwing lackwit on Twitter make the blindingly stupid statement that the Founders never conceived of individuals owning “weapons of war” or an “AR-15?” We’re told over and over that the only weapons available to the Founders were single-shot muzzle loaders and that is what the Second Amendment refers to. Never mind that this is the only amendment to which a technology test has been applied (the Founders would probably have an easier time imagining an AR-15 than the internet), or the fact that it is absolutely false (cannon were standard gear on privately owned sailing ships up until the Civil War era). Now the Nation’s Rain Man, Joe Biden, has come up with a truly ingenious way of preserving the Second Amendment and bringing it into line with the progressive position:

The idea that we don’t have elimination of assault-type weapons, magazines that can hold multiple bullets in them is absolutely mindless. It is no violation of the 2nd Amendment. It’s just a bow to the special interests of the gun manufacturers and the NRA.

This proposal would outlaw about 99% of all rifles and shotguns in the United States as even lever, bolt, and pump action weapons are magazine fed and hold “multiple bullets.” It would definitely outlaw about 100% of all pistols as that stubby little double-barreled, break-action .22-cal derringer your grannie left you is already illegal.

In further comments Biden did a great public service. Here you at least have to give him credit for candor:

If you’ve been paying attention at all you knew this was the case but it is still refreshing to see it in print.

As I posted yesterday, we can’t give any ground on gun regulations because the left’s endgame is a “no guns” regime.
