As President Trump took the stage to give the keynote speech at the NRA-ILA annual convention, someone tossed an object in his direction. Here is a video.
Someone threw an object at Trump during his talk at the NRA convention in Indianapolis. Various unverified reports it was a phone. Here's video by @realBradBrewer. https://t.co/sgfIZ4Zv8a pic.twitter.com/ZLKmbraFQN

The object, reported to be a cell phone, doesn’t come close to the president. But unless someone was tossing panties, this is not a good thing. Reportedly, the guy who tossed it was escorted from the venue and is being questioned by the Secret Service.
A man threw a cell phone on stage when President Trump walked out for his @nra speech. He threw it stage left, while POTUS was closer to stage right. The man hung around up front for a few minutes, carrying Mt. Dew, as POTUS started remarks and then Secret Service removed him.

The totality of events seems to indicate something other than an attempt to assault President Trump but it points to the difficulty the Secret Service has in providing personal security for any president at major rallies.
