Yesterday, I posted on an interview Tucker Carlson did with leftwing, Pierre Omidyar funded journalist, Glenn Greenwald. Greenwald said that he and some other left wing skeptics of the Mueller investigation had been banned from MSNBC because they refused to go along with the conventional wisdom there that Russia had handed the 2016 election to Donald Trump. According to Greenwald, the reason was simple. The Mueller investigation was a cash cow to what had been a floundering and flailing network staffed by mouthbreathers and watched by imbeciles. This is what he had to say:

It wasn’t just Howard Dean, it was continuously on MSNBC, which––let me just say, should have their top hosts on primetime go before the cameras and hang their head in shame and apologize for lying to people for three straight years, exploiting their fears to great profit. These are people who were on the verge of losing their jobs. That whole network was about to collapse. This whole scam saved them. And not only did they constantly feed people for three straight years total disinformation, they did it on purpose, Tucker.” And the proof of that is, unlike you, who has been criticized in many different ways by the left. Some of which I agree with and we’ve talked about before. The first time I ever watched your show, you had on Adam Schiff, the leading Democrat, to talk about—on your set for 12 straight minutes—collusion, so that your audience could hear the other side of the story.

MSNBC did the exact opposite. There was a whole slew, not just me, of left-wing journalists with very high journalistic credentials, far more than anyone on that network, like Matt Taibbi and Jeremy Scahill and many others, including myself, who were banned from the network because they wanted their audience not to know that anybody was questioning or expressing skepticism about the lies and the scam they were selling because it was so profitable.

They did it on purpose. It was a total fraud that they perpetrated on their audience and to the extent that they talked about it at all, it was to call us agents of the Russian government to defame us as traitors and to lie about us continuously to their audience. And there’s still no accountability, they still won’t put us on their airwaves, they still won’t apologize, and they’re still lying to their audience.

They don’t want their audience to know what they did to them for three straight years on purpose

Now those chickens, baby, they be comin’ home to roost.

Over the past two years, Nance has been one of MSNBC’s most outspoken personalities commenting on the network’s most important story: Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference. Hosts like Rachel Maddow have seen their ratings notably increase as the investigation unfolded, while other anchors like Ari Melber have built major elements of their shows around interviews of witnesses of the investigation to get their perspective on Mueller’s probe.

But the release of Barr’s summary letter threw a wrench into the narrative that has driven the network’s coverage and called into question what the primary narrative would be for the network going forward.

And it’s also possible that the Mueller disappointment drove loyal viewers away in much the same way that people avoid looking at their 401(k)s when the stock market is down. Maddow, who has consistently vied for the first or second top-rated cable news program, was sixth on Monday evening, down almost 500,000 total viewers from the previous Monday, as was MSNBC’s second top-rated program in primetime, The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell.

Conversely, “It was obviously a big couple of nights for Fox,” said one network insider, claiming, however, that nobody at MSNBC is panicking.

Just some eye-popping numbers on the ratings front from Monday night just out. Great news (or bad) for Trump has a profound effect on audience mood: 8P- Tucker – 3.87M, Hayes 1.51M, Cooper- 795,000. 9P- Hannity- 4.05M, Maddow- 2.51M, Cuomo- 911,000. Fox more than quadrupled CNN

Of course, they are panicking. The only reason they wouldn’t panic is if they were too stupid to know now Maddow has gotten her ratings and that is highly unlikely. We can bet they will try to keep this nonsense alive as long as possible but it is doubtful that anyone who wasn’t watching her before the Mueller investigation is going to stick around to watch her create a conspiracy theory of a secret report proving Trump is owned by Russia.
