How Did an Inflammatory FBI Text Message Come To Be Hidden From Congress?

One of the tidbits trickling out of the damage control leaks of the DOJ IG report is a text message between lovebirds Peter Strzok and Lisa Page that was reportedly lost to a “technical glitch.” The text exchange is pretty mind-blowing:

It is really hard to interpret this in any way that doesn’t give the impression that the FBI had some project underway to torpedo Trump’s candidacy. What makes it more amazing is that we’ve had half of this conversation for quite a while. The Lisa Page question about Trump is found in this document that was disclosed to Congress:

There is a seven-hour gap in that chronology but one thinks little of it because there is no flag for the reader indicating that anything is missing.

A Justice Department official told The Daily Caller News Foundation that the office of the inspector general recovered the text messages using its own equipment rather than the FBI’s.

The FBI has acknowledged that it was unable to recover tens of thousands of texts between Page and Strzok from Dec. 13, 2016 to May 17, 2017 due to a technical glitch. Some of those messages were recovered and given to Congress.

The missing Strzok text cited in the inspector general’s report was sent well before the glitch affected FBI servers.

The Justice Department official was not sure whether the Strzok text was deleted or whether they it missing due to other technical issues.

There are two problems with this explanation. First, we’re told that the IG has better data recovery capability than the nation’s premier law enforcement agency. As I don’t believe in leprechauns, color me dubious about this explanation. The other problem is that if the texts sent to Congress did not take place during the “glitch,” then one has to find some other reason for how they appeared set seamlessly together as if nothing was missing.

Using Occam’s Razor here, the answer is obvious. The document provided to Congress was altered by FBI staff in order to hide the rather inflammatory Strzok response.
