Why Did Debbie Wasserman Schultz Call the House Administrative Officer a "F***ing Islamophobe" After He Banned the Awans From House Computers?

Sometimes things happen that just let the imagination run wild.

If you recall. Back in June of 2016, the Inspector General of the House of Representatives reported to the Committee on House Administration that his investigators had detected major cybersecurity violations by the Awan family. This family, led by Imran Awan and composed of himself, his wife, his two brothers, a sister-in-law, and his elderly father, was all on the payroll of various House Democrats and were pulling several hundred thousand dollars per year.

An investigation ensued and in February 2017, House Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko and House Sergeant at Arms, Paul Irving, notified the Committee on Administration that the Awan family was banned from Capitol grounds and computer networks.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz went to bat for Awan and his crime syndicate. She refused to fire him and in a hearing, she threatened the chief of the Capitol Police with “consequences” if he didn’t return a computer that was being held in evidence.

Now Luke Rosiak of the Daily Caller has put together a rather interesting compilation of factoids.

Soon after the House IG submitted his report, the House Democratic Caucus server, which was listed a key evidence, “disappeared.”

Despite being banned from the House networks, Wasserman Schultz continued to let the various Awans work on “websites” and “printers.”

After the IG report was issued, Wasserman Schultz added Awan’s wife to the payroll.

Wasserman Schultz told at least two House employees that she had intervened in a Pakistani land deal on behalf of Awan’s father

The dispute came after Awan’s father was charged with fraud in relation to the deal, and the mysterious exertion of political influence resulted in Pakistani authorities instead targeting the elderly alleged victims, according to a local report.

A 2009 article in the Pakistani publication Dawn, headlined “Influential expat shields father from long arm of law,” said Awan’s father was facing criminal fraud charges involving a land deal, but Awan used political connections to pressure the police into targeting the alleged victims instead.

One House employee said that Wasserman Schultz became “frantic” after the IG’s report was released and talked to several House officials to try to stop the investigation.

Sources told the Daily Caller that Wasserman Schultz chose the name for Awan’s daughter and that Wasserman Schultz’s daughter frequently rode a horse Awan kept at a boarding facility.

This is my favorite:

Wasserman Schultz cornered House Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko and called him a “fucking Islamophobe,” saying “you will not so much as take away their parking spots,” the two House employees said Kiko told them.

Awan’s family attended the bat mitzvah of Wasserman Schultz’s daughter.

This is interesting but I put it in the “take it for what its worth” category

Ashraf Awan’s [note: if you don’t have a program, this is the father of the main Awan] business partner in the land deal, Rashid Minhas, told TheDCNF that the elder Awan gave a USB to a Pakistani senator who is a former head of a Pakistani intelligence agency, and that Imran claimed his IT position in Congress gave him the power to “change the U.S. president.” Minhas is in prison for an unrelated fraud charge.

Then there was the episode of Wasserman Schultz threatening the Capitol Police.

Once a criminal investigation was underway, Wasserman Schultz got even more involved.

Wasserman Schultz hired the House’s former top lawyer, Bill Pittard — who had recently quit the House — to try to block prosecutors from seeing evidence, TheDCNF previously reported. Awan obtained legal representation from two lawyers who began their careers in Miami — one with experience in espionage cases and the other a former aide to Hillary Clinton. Wasserman Schultz’ district includes much of Miami.

One of Awan’s lawyers told a judge he felt “very strongly” that prosecutors should not be able to look at the RepDWS laptop, mounting an attorney-client privilege argument. Prosecutors did not challenge the argument before the judge.

And we’re sure that her brother being a prosecutor in the office that is prosecuting the Awan’s has nothing to do with any of it and this tweet is simply…well, I don’t know what it would be other than what it seems, which is an indication that he’s acting as her advocate in his office.

Obviously, Wasserman Schultz has been much more involved in aiding Awan than is seemly. The question is why?

What, exactly, was the nature of the personal relationship that caused a member of Congress to take these extraordinary steps for a minor contractor who had a history of fraud? Why the close social connection that resulted in Wasserman Schultz essentially being the godmother of Awan’s daughter and Awan being invited to, and attending, a bat mitzvah?

Was Awan running Wasserman Schultz as an agent for Pakistan’s ISI? Was he passing information to ISI as a way of staying in the good graces of the Pakistani power structure?

And did I mention that the nature of the personal relationship between Awan and Wasserman Schultz is most curious?
