Did you know there was a murder carried out with an assault rifle in Liberty City, FL, this past weekend? Well, if you bother reading Florida Senator Bill Nelson’s twitter feed you heard about it:
Just got off the phone with State Rep. Kionne McGhee. Several people dead in Liberty City. Apparently assault weapons used.

The only problem is that this did not happen. There was a shooting in Liberty City (of course, there was, it was a freakin weekend) but it involved a handgun and left two men dead.
This was not a one-off. Bill Nelson has an established record of hyping, and by hyping I mean lying about, gun violence. Take, for instance, Bill Nelson at the time of the shootings at the high school in Parkland.
Via the Miami Herald, and when a Democrat tells a big enough lie that the Miami Herald notices, it is a whopper:
Four hours after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Nelson went on a media blitz with the major TV networks. He cited the FBI and said shooter Nikolas Cruz wore a gas mask and tossed smoke grenades as he shot people. Neither of those details turned out to be true.
Nelson said Monday the FBI gave him incorrect information based on video of the shooting. The FBI wrongly assumed that dust and debris from falling ceiling tiles during the shooting was actually some sort of smoke device used by Cruz, Nelson said, and that Cruz’s ski mask he wore during the shooting was actually a gas mask.
I was told this by the FBI…. The [Broward] Sheriff’s Department, days later when I went to the school, corrected it,” Nelson said. “They said the FBI’s mistake was that they saw… with the smoke and they assumed it was a gas mask, as it turned out it was a ski mask.”
Do you really believe the FBI told a US Senator that the shooter was wearing a gas mask and throwing smoke grenades?
Nelson has a problem. Either he’s suffering from the onset of dementia or he’s a pathological liar out to try to ride to re-election on a gun-control agenda.
