Adam Schiff Explains the Recent History of the Second Amendment

Despite being an obvious mental defective, Adam Schiff continues to lumber through the countryside, frightening the peasantry, molesting the livestock, and being feted by never-Trump pundits of all persuasions.

Last week he was at the University of Pennsylvania and he gave us some valuable insights on not only how he sees Americans, but how he views the Constitution.

Schiff told a University of Pennsylvania audience that much of the Russian content posted during the 2016 election “was just content designed to pit us against each other, to exploit our divisions.”

Schiff says the Russians parroted Black Lives Matter online to broaden America’s racial divide, and also pushed gun rights.

It is easy to understand why the Russians pushed what appears to be a Marxist-Leninist AstroTurf group dedicated to making the cop-on-the-beat the enemy, but why did they push gun rights, something that is enshrined in the Constitution and upheld by the US Supreme Court despite numerous attacks?

“They also trumpeted the Second Amendment,” Schiff said. “Apparently, the Russians are very big fans of our Second Amendment. They don’t particularly want a Second Amendment of their own, but they’re really glad that we have one. The Russians would be thrilled if we were doing nothing but killing each other every day, and sadly we are.”

A few thoughts on all of this horsesh**.

Just because alleged Russian controlled social media accounts are pushing a theme, doesn’t invalidate the theme and it doesn’t mean people holding that belief are helping Russia or influenced by Russia. There are a lot of people, myself among them, who believe that our police forces have become far too militarized over time. A lot of us hold the view that policing in poor minority neighborhoods, and in downscale white neighborhoods is often a lot more adversarial and violent than need be. Some folks, with whom I do not agree, seek to de-police minority neighborhoods. Holding any of those views is the legitimate prerogative of American citizens. Just because Russia sees them as a fault line says nothing about anything other than Russia seeing an advantage.

The Democrats have been trying desperately to tie gun rights, in general, and the NRA, in particular, to Russia. They realize how much the NRA endorsement helped Trump in 2016 and they want to neutralize the NRA in 2018 and 2020 by labeling them a Russian influenced organization. Ron Wyden is demanding the FBI investigate the NRA for just that reason. That is what Schiff is up to here. He’s saying a) there is no legitimate reason for gun ownership, other than slaughtering innocent bystanders and b) the gun rights movement is basically a creation of the Russians.

The Democrats, along with many of the people who are knee-jerk opponents of Trump, are taking the path of delegitimizing legitimate points of view by tying those points of view to alleged Russian social media influence. It won’t work and the people who are doing this should be driven from public life.
