Moments ago, Mitch McConnell shared a proposal regarding the shutdown. This is it:

The CR goes until February 8 instead of four weeks.

If, by February 8, a deal has not been reached on DACA then McConnell will move DACA to the front burner.

In that case, any senator can propose a bill that will be voted on.

It is not linked to the new CR that will be required on February 8.

There is no 1 a.m. vote it will now be held at noon tomorrow.

This gives Schumer a face-saving way to climb down. It doesn’t guarantee the House will go along with the bill or that the White House will.

If the Democrats take this, it is a surrender in all but name.
