Seriously.
Yesterday soon-to-be-former President Barack Hussein Obama was on the campaign trail in Columbus, Ohio. There he went on one of the unhinged rants that he’s famous for.
If this sounds familiar, it is because you’ve heard it before. You heard it even before Obama trashed the presidency.
And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
Because that is how Obama rolls. There is no possibility of him respecting disagreement because the least intellectually curious president of the past half-century is never wrong and therefore disagreement can only come from pig ignorance or racism or bad intentions.
Now why, after doing this for eight years, Obama thinks calling people names and demeaning them and their motives is a great way of wooing them to his point of view remains one of the great political mysteries of our age.
But let’s look at this argument on its merits.
As a Christian, I don’t believe my wife is my superior. I exalt her. I support her. I respect her. I am called to lay down my life for my wife if need be. But that doesn’t mean she is my superior. We are “one flesh.” Anyone in a marriage who thinks their spouse is their superior is in a monumentally unhealthy relationship. And, after watching Michelle Obama’s arrogant and overbearing manner from (thankfully) afar I have no doubt that Obama is the quintessential henpecked metro-sexual.
Beyond that, any honest assessment of Hillary Clinton’s career path will conclude that Hillary Clinton got to where she is today simply by virtue of being a woman and by being the wife of a governor and the president. She survived blunders everywhere in her career that no man could have survived. Do you think a man could have comported himself as she did as Secretary of State and had a political career afterwards? Do you think a man could have survived Benghazi? No. There is no way possible it would happen. People are opposed to Clinton for a lot of reasons. Some of it is partisan voting. But most of America, according to polls, believes she cannot be trusted and that she’s a crook. She and her inner circle are the subject of at least FIVE ongoing FBI investigations. She has made the lifestyle choice to be a serial liar. She obviously used every position she has held since her days of living in a double-wide in Little Rock as a means of self-enrichment. If you like her experience, as one of our commenters has said, then you would hire John Wayne Gacy to be the clown at your kid’s birthday party. People aren’t opposing Hillary because she is a woman any more than they opposed Obama because he is black.
The very idea that people are voting against Hillary Clinton because they don’t want a woman president is so divorced from reality that it calls Obama’s sanity into question.
