At some point today the most corrupt and politically compromised cabinet officer in the most corrupt and politically servile federal department will release the tapes of conversations between Orlando jihadi, Omar Mateen, and law enforcement while he held hostages in the gay nightclub he had shot up. If that is merely what Loretta Lynch was doing, that would arguably be the first lawful and democratic thing the Department of Justice has undertaken in nearly a decade. But that is not what she is doing.

CHUCK TODD: And you’re also going to be going to Orlando this week. Are you going to be announcing any new parts of the investigation?

LORETTA LYNCH: Yes, I’ll be going to Orlando on Tuesday to continue my briefings in the case. Actually though what we are announcing tomorrow is that the F.B.I. is releasing a partial transcript of the killer’s calls with law enforcement from inside the club. These are the calls with the Orlando P.D. negotiating team who were trying to ascertain who he was, where he was, and why he was doing this, all the while the rescue operations were continuing. That’ll be coming out tomorrow and I’ll be headed to Orlando on Tuesday.

CHUCK TODD: Including the hostage negotiation part of this?

LORETTA LYNCH: Yes. It will be primarily a partial transcript of his calls with the hostage negotiators.

CHUCK TODD: You say partial. What’s being left out?

LORETTA LYNCH: Well, what we’re not going to do is further proclaim this individual’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups and further his propaganda.

CHUCK TODD: So we’re not going to hear him talk about those things?

LORETTA LYNCH: We will hear him talk about some of those things, but we’re not going to hear him make his ascertains of allegiance and that. This will not be audio. This will be a printed transcript. But it will begin to capture the back and forth between him and the negotiators. We’re trying to get as much information about this investigation out as possible. As you know, because the killer is dead, we have a bit more leeway there. And so we will be producing that information tomorrow.

Incredibly, Lynch’s Justice Department, in the guise of illuminating Mateen’s motive, is actually going to redact his motive from the tapes. As RealClearPolitics reports, what makes this nonsense particularly egregious is that we already know what Justice is redacting:

The Washington Post reported last week that the gunman made multiple phone calls while holding hostages: “The gunman who opened fire inside a nightclub here said he carried out the attack because he wanted ‘Americans to stop bombing his country,’ according to a witness who survived the rampage.”

Salon reported that: “Everybody who was in the bathroom who survived could hear him talking to 911, saying the reason why he’s doing this is because he wanted America to stop bombing his country.”

The Washington Post also noted that during his 911 call from the club, the gunman referenced the Boston Marathon bombers and claimed “that he carried out the shooting to prevent bombings, [echoing] a message the younger Boston attacker had scrawled in a note before he was taken into custody by police.”

What the Justice Department is doing here is analogous to making a pornographic movie. Just as a porn flick excises virtually all elements of plot, theme, character development to “here’s the pizza… and here’s the pepperoni”, the administration has stripped out the plot, theme, and character development in the tapes, the things that make the tapes meaningful, and reduced it to a voyeuristic exercise of murder porn.

The reason for this is very simple. Barack Obama and his henchmen are invested in a narrative that says all Islamic terror attacks are one-offs, they are “lone wolves”, that there is no rhyme or reason in the attacks and, ergo, the administration is blameless for the attacks and guns are to blame.

And like the shooting spree that killed 14 people at a San Bernardino disabilities center, there’s no evidence thus far that the Orlando attack was part of a larger plot, Obama said.

“At this stage we see no clear evidence that he was directed externally,” Obama told reporters in the Oval Office Monday. “It does appear that at the last minute he announced allegiance to ISIL, but there’s no evidence so far that he was, in fact, directed by ISIL.”

On the whole, the action is hardly surprising for an administration led by a man who fairly shat himself over criticism of his failure to identify these terror attacks as being inspired by radical Islam.

This administration has shown a significant Stalinist tendency towards redacting and corrupting the official record in furtherance of its policy goals. Eric Holder was cited for contempt of Congress for his efforts. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen has raised sanitizing the official record to an art form with the famous “server crash” that evaporated Lois Lerner’s emails. Within the past month it has been revealed that both the State Department and the White House deliberately altered official records to hide things they did not wish known. The sanitizing of the record on the Orlando shooting is just the way they roll.
