It is illegal for political candidates to accept donations from non-resident aliens or from foreign nations. That rule, however, does not seem to apply to Hillary Clinton if reports from the Middle East are to be believed.

…Jordan’s official news agency, Petra News Agency, reported on Sunday citing the Saudi crown price, namely that Saudi Arabia is a major funder of Hillary Clinton’s campaign to become the next president of the United States.

As MEE notes, the Petra News Agency published on Sunday what it described as exclusive comments from Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman which included a claim that Riyadh has provided 20 percent of the total funding to the prospective Democratic candidate’s campaign.

he report was later deleted and the news agency has not responded to requests for comment from Middle East Eye. However, the deletion took place too late, as the Washington-based Institute for Gulf Affairs managed to capture the report and has re-published the original Arabic Petra report, which quoted Prince Mohammed as having said Saudi Arabia had provided with “full enthusiasm” an undisclosed amount of money to Clinton.

Now, the Jordanian New Agency is claiming that their website was hacked and the Clinton flack agency, the Podesta Group, is going batsh** crazy trying to stomp down rumors. This is possible. It would even be plausible if something more substantial had been done to the website. Hacking the website of a minor Middle East news agency to insert a single false report sounds a little too Robert-Ludlum-esque to be believed.

The sad thing is that there is absolutely nothing unbelievable about this story. The Clintons, in general, and Hillary Clinton, in particular, have monetized their government service in a way previously unknown in American politics. The Clinton Foundation served as a huge slush fund and money laundering operation when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. Hillary Clinton has long and extensive ties to the Saudi royal family. If we go back to the First Clinton Regime, we find that Bill Clinton and Al Gore accepted donations from foreign nations. Chinagate, the purchasing of access to the Clinton’s by Communist China in order to shape foreign policy, was the subject of a Congressional investigation in which a stunning 94 witnesses either refused to appear before the committee or took the Fifth.

Maybe this was some rogue hacker intent on causing difficulty for Hillary Clinton. Ockham’s Razor, however, provides a more likely answer.
