A couple of weeks ago Donald Trump received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association (see RedState commentary here | here | here). Not to be left behind, after getting the Brady Campaign’s endorsement in January, Hillary Clinton has now clinched the endorsement of the most aggressive gun grabber group in the United States: Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety.

Everytown for Gun Safety, a group funded by billionaire Michael Bloomberg to reduce gun violence, is set to deliver its first-ever presidential endorsement to Hillary Clinton on Friday, POLITICO has learned.

Clinton has made gun safety a top issue in her primary fight against Bernie Sanders — a rare issue where she was able to campaign to his left — and has made it clear she will continue to highlight the issue in a general election. She featured Erika Smegielski, daughter of the principal slain in the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting, in a campaign ad in Connecticut. She has also campaigned extensively with the “mothers of the movement,” a group of now high-profile mothers of black men and women who have been killed in police custody or because of gun violence. Clinton has met multiple time with representatives of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of the Everytown group.

Hillary Clinton’s unreserved hostility to gun ownership is laid out for all to see on her campaign website

Strengthen background checks and close dangerous loopholes in the current system.
Hold irresponsible dealers and manufacturers accountable.
Keep guns out of the hands of terrorists, domestic abusers, other violent criminals, and the severely mentally ill.

As impossible as it seems, Clinton’s hostility towards gun ownership is even deeper than Obama’s, who, at least, recognized that gun ownership is a part of the culture of much of the nation. Her hostility is not a nibble-around-the-edges type of hostility. Hers is a full-throated call to make gun ownership functionally impossible.

She is for enlisting your doctor in her war to keep you from gun ownership. She wants to sue gun manufacturers out of business. She wants unnamed and unaccountable government bureaucrats to arbitrarily decide you shouldn’t own a gun. She is in favor of allowing inaction by a law enforcement agency serve as a reason to deny the ability to buy a firearm.

Hillary gives lip service (insert your own Bill Clinton joke here) to respecting the Second Amendment but she is unalterably opposed because your inability to defend yourself, your family, and your property makes you dependent upon government to even a greater extent.
