Even the dimmest bulbs are capable of some degree of introspection and possess self-awareness. Not so with pathological narcissists. To them all of their difficulties are the result of other people not recognizing their awesomeness.
Yesterday, Speaker Paul Ryan said that he was not yet ready to endorse Donald Trump. This is close to unprecedented where the highest ranking elected Republican in the nation finds himself unable to endorse his own party’s presumptive nominee. A normal person would have wondered a) why that might be and considered b) reaching out to address concerns and c) appearing to be conciliatory. A normal person. But Donald Trump is anything but normal.

Criminy. This guy wants to be President of the United States and he has the same social skills of your typical second grader. The actual fate of the GOP and the probable fate of the nation is at stake and Donald J. Freakin Trump is worrying about sand in his butt crack.
I’m sure this will play well with a lot of his supporters. Trump, by throwing aside thousands of years of social conventions designed to allow people who disagree to actually work together, is, in their eyes, just fighting a PC culture. This is how they behave — or how they would like to behave — and it largely explains why Trump attracts a lot of people on the economic margins. And then there are his online supporters who, for the most part, are pretty comfortable with fascism to begin with and they think this is just how a caudillo should act.
Hope he's got his resume out. https://t.co/9bWRI0t6hQ

But it should be a warning to anyone in the GOP who considers supporting this assclown, either actively or passively. This goes back to one of the first rules of selecting a spouse. The person you are considering will never treat you better than they do during courtship. That is when everyone is on their best behavior and does their damnedest to suppress their bad habits. Once you are married things change. It also applies to seeking a job. If you potential employer is an asshole during the interview and application process it will only get worse once you are an employee. Right now Donald Trump needs the GOP. The GOP definitely does not need Donald Trump. The way he is acting like a spoiled little brat desperately in need of his butt being smacked rather than like a mature adult tells you everything you need to know about what kind of a president he will be.
