The war between Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Fox News in general, and Sean Hannity in particular, continues to progress.

We’ve covered here the extent to which Sean Hannity has devolved from someone who claimed to have conservative views into a shameless promoter of Donald Trump. Last week, Hannity and Cruz crossed swords on Hannity’s program when Hannity, as he always does, incorporates Donald Trump’s attack lines and talking points into his questions.

That may have marked the last time Cruz appears on Hannity’s show as he was obviously not pleased with having an interview disintegrate into Hannity mouthing Trump’s gripes about his own incompetence. On Thursday, Cruz was on Mark Levin’s show and had this to say:

“And that’s why he doesn’t want to come on your show because you won’t kiss his behind,” Cruz claimed. “You’ll actually ask difficult questions, and Donald doesn’t know how to answer them.”

It doesn’t take much guess work to figure out that Cruz is referring to Sean-of-the-tightly-puckered-lips.

The fight escalated yesterday when Cruz was a guest on the Dom Giordano Show in Philadelphia.

Giordano, clearly referencing the senator’s dispute with Hannity, asked Cruz about controversy surrounding the “so-called voterless elections.” The radio host added that he was “shocked” to see Cruz be hammered by “a couple shows” on the network over his strategy to win unbound delegates.

“They know it’s not true,” Cruz replied. “Donald doesn’t handle losing well. And when we loses he cries and he screams and he whines and he curses and he insults everybody.”

“So when Donald lost five states in a row that’s when they began making up this nonsense about voterless elections…

“What do you make of this?” Giordano pressed. “You’ve always had a pretty good reception there. … Sean was once a guy who wanted a limited government guy to win and become president. What the heck is going on with this whole deal here?”

“Well listen, Fox News has got to decide what stories they want to air and what stories they want to tell,” Cruz said. “I’m not going to worry about who they’re rooting for and what surrogates they put on and what messages they push. I’m gonna focus on my own positive message.”

Cruz, unfortunately, is exactly right. Hannity has been flogging the Donald Trump misinformation and disinformation that delegates must be linked a popular vote to be legitimate. This is nonsense. The GOP could choose its candidate without any state primary elections… which is increasingly looking like a good idea if faux-Republicans poseurs keep running… and it would be completely within its rights. If Trump doesn’t know this, then Hannity does know it and his getting all pissy over Cruz wooing delegates as their second ballot choice was nothing short of blatant dishonest bought-and-paid-for hackery that he claims he opposes.

The one good thing that has come out of the Trump fiasco is that now we know who were actually conservatives and who where just playing the role to further their business career. Anyone who ever mentions Sean Hannity as an actual conservative again deserves to have people laugh in their face.
