Back last summer, before the Trump train had really pulled out of the station, Donald Trump was using the murder of 32-year-old Kate Steinle by 7-time convicted felon and 5-time deported illegal alien as a reason for increasing border security:

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Friday that the seemingly random killing of a young woman in San Francisco was even more proof why voters should send him to the White House.

The shooting Wednesday evening of Kate Steinle on a city pier, police say, was committed by 45-year-old Francisco Sanchez, an undocumented immigrant and a repeat felon who had been deported five times to Mexico. Law enforcement officials told CNN that Sanchez was released by the San Francisco sheriff’s department despite a request from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for an immigration detainer.

“This senseless and totally preventable act of violence committed by an illegal immigrant is yet another example of why we must secure our border immediately,” Trump said in a statement Friday. “This is an absolutely disgraceful situation and I am the only one that can fix it. Nobody else has the guts to even talk about it. That won’t happen if I become President.”

Trump has positioned himself to the furthest right in the GOP’s immigration debate, going as far as to say that some Mexicans crossing the border are “rapists” and “killers.” Several of Trump’s Republican rivals have criticized Trump’s rhetoric, saying it is inappropriate and hurts the Republican Party’s brand.

San Francisco is, as you know, a “sanctuary city” where law enforcement are forbidden to cooperate with federal authorities in the enforcement of immigration law.

Ted Cruz pointed out yesterday that Donald Trump has been a long time supporter of Democrat corruption. He has also been a supporter of sanctuary cities.

Via former RedStater, David Horowitz (please read the whole thing):

Donald Trump donated thousands of dollars to extreme leftists in California, such as Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom. But that was last decade, which was part of the “ancient” history before Trump’s cathartic conversion. More recently, while conservatives were fighting the Gang of Eight amnesty bill and Obama’s sanctuary nation policies, Trump donated $6,000 to Kamala Harris, the California attorney general who is, perhaps, one of the most notorious supporters of sanctuary cities in the country. In 2014, his daughter, Ivanka, also cut a $2,000 check to the queen of sanctuary cities. That was after Harris championed the despicable Trust Act, which turned the entire state of California into a sanctuary for illegals. Coupled with her activities during her first term as attorney general and her prior work as San Francisco district attorney, Harris is one of the leftists most responsible for the policies that led to the murder of Kate Steinle.

But the minute Trump began running for president, he feigned outrage over the murder of Kate Steinle in San Francisco.

And Trump’s $2,500 donation to then-Mayor Gavin Newsom in 2009 was after he declared the following:

I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids. We are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it.

It doesn’t matter what the issue is, if Trump doesn’t hold decidedly Establishment views (H1B visas, eminent domain, bail outs, funding Planned Parenthood, etc.) the you have to believe that he changed previously held beliefs (abortion, immigration, Second Amendment rights) and really believes what he’s saying. His support for Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsome is just like the money he gave to Rahm Emmanuel, Rod Blagojevich, Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid, and Hillary Clinton. He gave that money because he supports those people and what they stand for.
