Trey Gowdy: Yes, Benghazi Witnesses Have Testified To A 'Stand-Down' Order

Yesterday, Jay Caruso posted about Congressional Democrats calling the Benghazi survivors  liars and claiming there was no stand down order. In particular, Adam Schiff and Elijah Cummings, whose collective IQs runs into the high single digits, had this to say:

“If the film portrays them as having ordered a stand-down, it’s clearly at odds with the facts,” said Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), whose district includes Hollywood and who sits on the committee. “If the film portrays those who went to rescue people at the diplomatic facility as doing so in disregard of orders, that’s also plainly at odds with the facts. … It may make for good entertainment; it doesn’t make for a well-informed public.”

“I think all the evidence has been overwhelming that there was no stand-down order — everybody says that,” said Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), who serves as ranking member on the Benghazi committee and has read the book “13 hours” but doesn’t subscribe to the stand-down account. “[I]f they tried to allege that, it’s inconsistent with the evidence that’s shown, and people will view that as, perhaps … some exaggeration of certain points to make this [movie] more interesting.”

Now the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghaze, Trey Gowdy, says that yes, Benghazi witnesses have testified to a stand-down order.

Rep.Trey Gowdy, chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, said Wednesday that a number of witnesses had confirmed a stand-down order was given to military assets in proximity to Benghazi the night of the 2012 terror attack, while others said no one issued such an order.

“The best I can do is tell you what the witnesses say, and then you can decide who you think is more credible,” Gowdy said during an interview with Boston Herald Radio.

His comments came the same day the committee interviewed Jeremy Bash, a high-ranking Pentagon official who in 2012 authored an email indicating the military had forces “spinning” and prepared to head toward Benghazi when approved.

Gowdy said “there were no assets that could have gotten there” in time to save Ambassador Chris Stevens and Sean Smith, two Benghazi victims who died of smoke inhalation earlier in the evening of Sept. 11, 2012.

But he noted the question of whether assets could have arrived in time to save the other two victims, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, was “eminently fair.”

This is one of the very few times Hollywood has ever helped us out. The Benghazi tragedy is really an apt metaphor for just about everything Hillary Clinton has ever been involved it. It was ill-conceived, of dubious legality, and dangerous to everyone involved. In its aftermath, Clinton lied to the American people and the families of the victims. She continues to lie and has even called the family members of the deceased liars. Having it front and center for the public to see as Hillary’s campaign buckles in the early primary states will be a form of justice for the Americans killed in Benghazi, the thousands of Libyans who have been killed under the radical Islamic overlords taht Hillary helped install, and for the hundreds of thousands killed and dispossessed in the senseless civil war that she unleashed there.
