Shame. Democrat Rep. Gwen Moore Claims Numbers Are Racially Insensitive

It all started out innocently enough. Pro-live Wisconsin Congressman Sean Duffy was giving a speech in defense of innocent life on the floor of the House of Representatives.

My liberal friends, Congressional Black Caucus members, talk about fighting for the defenseless, the hopeless, and the downtrodden,” he added. “There is no one more hopeless and voiceless than an unborn baby, but their silence is deafening. I can’t hear them. Where are they standing up for their communities, advocating and fighting for their right to life?”

In his speech he mentioned the incontrovertible fact that abortions outnumber live births among blacks in New York City.

Data from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reveals that black women had more abortions than live births in 2012. While the city’s abortion rate has declined to the lowest since the Supreme Court legalized the procedure in its landmark Roe v. Wade decision, it remains well above the national average.

In a report titled “Summary of Vital Statistics 2012, The City of New York,” black women not only had the highest rate of abortions but they also topped the chart with the highest number of pregnancies and miscarriages as well, surpassing all other racial groups.

Whereas black women delivered 24,758 live births, Hispanic women produced over 10,000 more. White women in New York City, on the other hand, gave birth to the highest number of live babies at 39,112.

As far as pregnancy terminations, black children who were aborted comprised 42.4 percent of the total number of abortions in New York City. In 2012, out of 73,815 abortions in the city, 31,328 black babies were aborted.

Hispanic women came in second behind their black counterparts as far as abortions at 31 percent.

White women were at the tail end of the abortion chart with 9,704, or 13 percent who opted to have the procedure.

To a pro-abort like Wisconsin Congresswoman Gwen Moore, this created a reaction like the Devil being spinkled with Holy Water. Predictably, she cried racism. That’s because when the only thing you think about in life is the color of your skin and the color of the skin of the people you are dealing with then everything in the world is about skin color. And when they disagree with you, well, it is racism, pure and simple.

“I don’t expect Rep. Duffy to understand why his comments are offensive,” Moore said.

“What he and so many of his Republican colleagues fail to acknowledge is the underlying context behind high abortion rates in African-American communities,” she continued. “High rates of abortion are related to poverty and lack of access to quality care.”

“Rep. Duffy’s hypocrisy on this issue is as predictable as it is offensive. If he truly, truly wants to fight for the hopeless and voiceless, he should join us,” Moore said.

Here one cannot help but note that the high rates of abortion are actually due to NYC being a craphole of leftwing politicians who are pursuing a eugenics program that would be the envy of Josef Mengele. There is really no evidence that poverty or access to quality care (hmmm… how is this possible in the age of ObamaCare?) being cause of abortion, rather it is the abortion industry that preys on the poor with the aid of progressive politicians that is the cause.

No matter why the abortions occur, the fact is that they do and people of the meanest humanity, a level to which Moore doesn’t seem to aspire, should be able to agree that something is wrong when you are killing more babies than are being born. But rather than address the issue, Moore did all she can do and all she ever does: charge racism.
