When Hillary first announced that he would be campaigning for her it seemed like a plus. When it comes to retail politics, Bill Clinton is everything that Hillary isn’t. Then Donald Trump opened the door to using of Bill Clinton’s own history as a sexual predator to impeach Hillary’s “pro-woman” agenda. Back in the 1990s, the press had a virtual omerta on the subject of Bill Clinton behaving in a way that would get him fired, sued, and probably jailed if he was an employee with virtually any company in the nation. But those days are gone. Not only is there the traditional media that has replaced a staid 24-hour news cycle with an insatiable appetite for content, there is online media that is equally hungry and has very different editorial standards. Even though TMZ and Gawker are obviously left wing in their politics, their primary allegiance is to drawing eyeballs to their pages.

This has set the Democrats and the Hillary Clinton campaign back on their heels. For instance, this tweet

Has cause Hillary all manner of diffculty. The left knows the potential danger here much more than do conservatives or even generic Republicans. Michael Tomasky in The Huffington Post: Why Hillary Can’t Shake Bill’s Affairs. The Atlantic asks

Short answer: they don’t think she can.

A Washington Post article titles The Bill Clinton scandal machine revs back up and takes aim at his wife seems like a defense, but it actually makes a very solid case against Bill Clinton as a sexual predator.

They are tied up in knots over Hillary Clinton ridiculing a young woman who was raped as she defended the rapist.

And it has manifested itself on the campaign trail. Via The Wall Street Journal, The Big Dog—Bill Clinton—Gets Fixed.

It was a muted Bill Clinton who stumped for his wife in New Hampshire on Monday.

Only a few weeks back, Mr. Clinton was thought to be Hillary Clinton’s “secret weapon.” Well, he has just made his first two appearances of the 2016 campaign—and the Associated Press describes him as “subdued,” while the New York Times says he “seemed to be on a tight leash.”

Not to mention how adrift he looked when a reporter asked him about Donald Trump’s slams about his treatment of women.

Enjoy the interchange mentioned in the last paragraph.

Yet even before Mr. Trump picked up on it, the contradictions between Mrs. Clinton’s feminism and her behavior were being challenged. At a New Hampshire campaign stop in early December, a woman asked her, “You recently came out to say that all rape victims should be believed? But would you say that about Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones?” The reference was to three women who have respectively accused Bill Clinton of rape, sexual assault and exposing himself.

We saw the disruption this can cause for Mrs. Clinton on Sunday at another New Hampshire rally, when a local Republican woman tried to bring up the issue. Mrs. Clinton shut her down by calling her “very rude” and saying she would never call on her. Plainly it’s not a persuasive response, and such confrontations will always make news.

The “local Republican woman” he mentions was also a rape survivor.

Making the situation even more delicious is that Bill Clinton is… well… Bill Clinton. He can’t contain himself. He will be campaigning separately from Hillary. The outcome is inevitable.

What the left understands is that the landscape of how sexual assault is seen and addressed by the legal system has undergone a sea change since the bad old days of “put some ice on it.” The tactics that worked them do not work now and the left knows that to protect Bill Clinton, and by extension Hillary Clinton, on this issue they have to jettison basically every thing they have advocated for over a period of more than two decades. Not that they can’t. But it will be unseemly and obvious.

Now you are thinking, “wow, this is good news. Clinton is going to get his. There has to be a catch because RedState doesn’t write good news stories very often.” My friend, you are about to be introduced to what happens to a winning attack once the Supid F***ing Party gets its hands on it. Minutes ago, by colleague Leon Wolf posted on the Republican Speaker of the House of the New Hampshire legislature scolding some Republicans for “inappropriate” behavior. Apparently, that behavior was lèse-majesté. It was addressed at Katherine Prudhomme O’Brien, the rape survivor who heckeled Clinton, that “local Republican woman”, is also a member of the state legislature.

But there is more. From USA Today GOP women urge Trump to drop talk of Bill Clinton sex scandals. Huh?

Republican women have a message for Donald Trump: Enough with Bill Clinton’s sex scandals.

It’s not that they’re waving Trump off the issue to help Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. On the contrary, they’re worried that the more Trump talks about a troubled period of the Clintons’ marital history, the more likely it could backfire and rally independent and even some Republican women to the side of the former first lady.

Women voters are likely to recoil over Trump’s contention in recent interviews that the former first lady was an “enabler” of her husband’s liaisons, including his affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, said Nancy Dwight, a former National Republican Congressional Committee executive director.

“It’s a distraction,” said Donna Sytek, a former speaker of the New Hampshire House of Representatives and former state GOP chair. “We should be talking about the debt and security and any number of other things,” she said. “The women I know that are politically active are going to try to ignore it and encourage their candidates to talk about the larger issues.”

There is no adequate description for how stupid these two women are. The Democrats are terrified of this issue. Hillary is trying to avoid talking about it. And now we have this pair of geniuses demanding that GOP candidates ignore an issue that a) effectively neutralizes Bill Clinton’s impact and b) invalidates Hillary’s “women’s issues” platform.

In the classic Saturday Night Live skit titled “Mentor” that features Peyton Manning, he asks one of the hapless kids he’s coaching, “do you want to lose?” Every time you hear anyone say we should stop mentioning Bill Clinton’s career as a sexual predator we need that question: do you want to lose.

Do you think the GOP has more than its fair share of imbeciles? Are three generations of them enough? Are those two GOP chicks as dumb as a bag of claw-hammers? If you answered “yes” to any of those you will love my archives.
