This is sad but not unexpected. Even as the manhunt continues for at-large conspirators continues, the left’s propaganda machine is stoking conspiracy theorists blaming the Paris attacks on Israel’s Mossad and the CIA. The blame shifting started early. This appeared while the attacks were still underway.

Today, a leading apologist for Palestinian inhumanity, cruelty, and terrorism, the co-founder of the Free Gaza movement, a soulless twit named Mary Hughes-Thompson, hinted that the Paris attack was an Israeli run “false flag” exercise in response to a EU requirement that Israeli products made in areas of Israel outside the 1967 boundaries be explicitly labeled. This is no coincidence. The Palestinian Authority is pushing this story:

On Sunday, an op-ed published in Al-Hayat Al-Jadida—the PA’s official daily newspaper—stated, “It is not a coincidence that human blood was exploded in Paris at the same time that certain European sanctions are beginning to be implemented against settlement products, and while France leads Europe in advising the security council that will implement the two-state solution, Palestine and Israel—which the Israelis see as a warning of sudden danger coming from the direction of Europe, where the Zionist, occupying, settling endeavor was born…The wise and correct thing is to look for who benefits. In short: They need to search the last place reached by the octopus arms of the Mossad… It is clear that its ‘Mossad’ will burn Beirut and Paris in order to achieve [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s goals. He, who challenged the master of the White House, hides in his soul enough evil to burn the world.”

By the first of the year, this will be the conventional wisdom on American campuses where Israel is blamed for every disaster: natural or political.

The same network of progressives, on the internet and on low-wattage radio outlets, who claimed 9/11 was a false flag are now back in business creating a tissue of lies about the Paris attacks. I don’t link to left wing hate and propaganda sites but if you want to find them start with a Google search for Israel + false flag + Paris.

This whole idea is built on two essential pillars of faith.

First. Arabs are stupid.

If you don’t believe Arabs are stupid then you can’t believe in the “false flag” nonsense. Arab Muslim terrorists attempted to take down the Twin Towers in 1993 and they succeeded in 2001. Since then they have carried out spectacular terror attacks in Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Tanzania, Yemen, London, Madrid, etc. (see list). Either someone is doing a lot of “false flag” operations, including inside Israel, or Islamic terrorists, given the opportunity, are perfectly capable of carrying out terror attacks particularly in a nation with a large, disaffected Islamist population. Assuming that Arabs Muslims are not capable of doing this, when they clearly have a motive to do so, is nothing more than the paternalistic racism so prevalent on the left.

Second. Jews are omnipotent.

This is straight out of the Secret Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The idea is that the Israelis are super-super-super clever and that Israel benefits from a constant state of war. Israel is good, no doubt, but as former general and Defense Minister and all-around bad-ass Moshe Dayan once said when asked the secret of his battlefield success: “always fight Arabs.” For a “false flag” operation to work, Israel (or the CIA, but if anyone believes this kind of operation could be pulled off by the CIA, their intelligence is only barely superior to a gerbil’s) would have to a) substantially profit from it and b) they would have to be guaranteed not to be caught. and consider for yourself whether any nation is so sure of its intelligence service (and the Israelis make their share of screw-ups, such as Eli Cohen, the Lillehammer killing, Jonathan Pollard, etc.) that it would carry out a bloody assault on the capital of a mostly friendly power. No matter how well planned there is always the danger that something will go wrong or that someone on your side may be so repulsed that they blow the whistle. Then what?

The American left, especially over the past forty years, has become nearly monolithic in its anti-Semitism and this attack in Paris is going to show that the Venn Diagram of “Paris Truthers” and “Progressives” to be nearly congruent.
