More peachy-keen news in the feckless Obama administrations feckless war on ISIS:
U.S. officials are acknowledging that the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has spread into Afghanistan, where President Obama is on track to draw down all but 1,000 U.S. troops by the end of the year.
“The expansion of ISIL into the region is of great concern,” said Pentagon spokesman Marine Corps Maj. Bradlee Avots in an email, using the administration’s preferred acronym for ISIS. “We remain committed to our objectives of ensuring that Afghanistan or Pakistan does not become a safe haven from which violent extremists can attack the U.S. or our allies.”
ISIS is a direct result of two acts that are the sole and complete responsibility. First, its hatred of anything associated with the Bush administration required it to deliberately reject a war won in Iraq in order to prove Bush wrong. This, and its abuse and neglect of a government we had a vested interest in maintaining, led to the rise of ISIS.
The second factor was the juvenile, triumphalist reaction to the alleged Arab Spring. By toppling a toothless and pathetic dictator in Libya, we opened that country to ISIS:
The black flag of ISIS flies over government buildings. Police cars carry the group’s insignia. The local football stadium is used for public executions. A town in Syria or Iraq? No. A city on the coast of the Mediterranean, in Libya.
Fighters loyal to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria are now in complete control of the city of Derna, population of about 100,000, not far from the Egyptian border and just about 200 miles from the southern shores of the European Union.
By supporting a radical Islamic replacement for the government in Egypt, that nation now has an ISIS presence:
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group’s affiliate in Egypt has released video purporting to show the beheading of eight Bedouin men it accused of working for the Egyptian and Israeli armies.
The video, posted on the group’s Twitter account late on Monday, also showed what it said were victims of Egyptian military operations in the restive Sinai Peninsula where an insurgency has killed scores of policemen and soldiers.
His attack on Libya, another attempt to prove he could do what Bush did without the use of ground troops, destabilized an odious regime in Damascus and turned over a third of the nation over to bloody-minded Islamic terrorists, but I repeat myself.
While Obama is doing his Kabuki theater with his silly AUMF, ISIS conntinues to expand and the responsibility for this tragedy rests squarely in the Oval Office.
